I know that adding pics/images help to "beautify" a hub.  But do you think it helps to beautify your income?  In other words, do you feel that by adding pics to your hubs it helps increase your income - takes away from your income - or has no effect on your income.

I'd agree, people who land on your page will see pictures before they read text, if the pictures are relevant and pleasing it will encourage them to read on.

Pictures will bring you traffic from Google image search (and possible clicks) so they are definitely a good idea.

You should take a look at Analytics. The last several thousand visits I got from Google Images made me a whopping $0.38. smile I've never that traffic actually converting to clicks here or on my own websites.

Thanks for your feedback on this.  I asked because I have varying views.

In one sense, yes I do believe that by adding pics/images to our hubs it can engage readers more, and may cause our readers to become more engaged in our topic - and remain on the page longer.

But on the other hand, I do believe that by adding too many pics (especially large pics) in the "money spots" i.e. ad spots, it could reduce overall clickthru rate on ads, causing loss of income.

I have come to the conclusion that I will add pics to a hub, but only if I am absolutely compelled to do so.   I won't just do it for the sake of it; I will do it because it really reinforces the hub content and I just can't resist the urge to slap up a pic.  Other than that I'm foregoing adding pics because I do think it get's in the way of my money.

Besides that, the image ads that appear randomly will usually serve as good pictures in themselves.

Yes it's nice to have the reader stay and enjoy the decorations of a hub, but at the end of the day I'm quite ok with them staying just long enough - and then clicking away - so that I can earn money $-)

I suppose some want the reader to click an ad to get away from the page, therefore earning the writer money in the process, but not me. I had rather the reader find the hub so interesting or useful they read more of my stuff giving them more opportunity to find products to buy or ads which interest them.

But we each have our own strategies for the particular type of success we are aiming for on HP.  I do love sharing my own photos on my hubs if they are relevant.  smile

If you refuse to add lots of pics to your hubs, I will be forced to drop by… smile

I think APPROPRIATE pictures can add a lot to a hub.

Pictures just for the sake of pictures seems senseless to me.
