In a News report on a local TV network it was reported that the Arkansas Legislative session has proposed a "Bill" for restrictions on the use of cell phones and music players such as iPods by people running and walking on the street or sidewalk.
Arkansas has a Texting and driving law, but is not enforced. You see people texting and driving with their knees all the time. Even saw a cop texting once and driving.

Also in Arkansas news...a State Senator was chased by a local deputy who pursued the Senator going over 100 mph for a long distance. He avoided pulling over for quite a ways, until finally pulling over. Cop saw ID and let him go, no ticket, no charge, nothing.
Seems there is an old Arkansas law on books that states..."that no member of legislation during a Legislative session can be detained by law enforcement during a session or 15 days before or after."
During the snow storm a couple of weeks ago, a State Legislator from Texarkana made it to Malvern (hour from Little Rock) and then hitched a ride on a State Trooper Helicopter the rest of the way since driving was bad. Ignore the fact it was for those stuck on roadways and emergencies.
Arkansas politics alive and well. Arkansas is more of a Police State every legislative session that passes. Vote one out and then the next one turns out the same way.

Arkansas isn't the only State with that law its actually pretty common.
I know there are some outdated laws, but...this one for this day and age is ridiculous. The Senator passed at times 3 cars at a time on a rural highway. Could have killed others. His position is no excuse for stupidity. He should have left earlier.
MW, who writes the laws they have to obey? What are the chances they will pass a law against something they feel they have the right to do. They have a form diplomatic immunity in their own country and are above the law.
I dont like the one that makes it a federal terrorist case when you film a police officer making an arrest. They carry cameras in their cars to film our arrests for evidence against us. They simply dont think they should have to argue with a tape if they didn't record it. Simply their word against yours and the smiling cop who lost the tape that showed you getting beaten for being what ever that one doesn't like.
Tennessee has a texting and driving law as well. What gets me is that there is already a law in nearly all 50 states for "distracted driving" so the new laws are just a knee jerk reaction to an ignorant public outcry.

It surprised me a little to hit the Forums this late and not be able to find a thread on Bayh's resignation. That our political system is dysfunctional is hardly news to the informed voter, but to have a strong Senator pull the plug in sheer disgust...now, that's impressive.Mr. Bayh is also...

Are Polls driving our Politics or are we using our knowledge to understand issues?

So your brand new driver-less vehicle is driving innocently down the highway with your usual car-poolers , you get to the intersection at 5th and Grand And all of a sudden two things happen at once , a loose doberman runs out into the street on the left and...
