ILLITERATE ENGLISH LANGUAGE QUESTIONS

   In recent weeks I notice perhpas 2/3 of the questions posted...especially UNASWERED questions...are in broken English, asking for illegal information such as how to cheat on taxes....or so ungrammatical that they can not be understood, or worse. The "worse" are questions that really seem to be illegal or embedded links to boost a commercial product, a legal firm, a prescription drug etc...for example
   
   
   someone might ask about what they can do to replace a lost school ring.....when you click on the full question it seems to have been posted by a "Hubber" which is really a ring company..
   
   
   someone else supposedly wants an "answer" to how to cook scallops, and it is linked to somebody promoting a cook book or a seafood industry website.
   
   If we are not allowed to blatantly promote ouselves or commercial ventures in our Hub content, why can't we organize volunteers, or try to get HubPages to police this area.
   
   Normally I would brush it off just like bad eBay offers or a phony listing on CraigsList, but here is the tragedy:
   
   The REAL QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS often involve serious issues from people in need, or in search of guidance, and who can use the vast knowledge and resources of fellow Hubbers. It is said that the garbage posted...or things which can not be read because of bad English, will chase some legitimate people away from this important Hub Feature...Just my thoughts. thanks.

      I don't have a problem with your forum post title in caps. I feel that frustration, too!
      
      UNASWERED could be spelled correctly, but maybe you don't have a browser that spellchecks.
      
      Getting past all that, HubPages is an odd place in some ways. So long as a Hub is published in English and not in Sanskrit, it passes a first test. Pornography (as defined by Google) or duplicate content would be the second and third tests. After those, most all is fair game.
      
      The Internet is full of snakes, and snakes find their hidey-holes at HubPages, too.
      
      Let's roll with the punches: flag the things that deserve flagging (HP has a good system for this) and be the best we can be so as not to set bad examples for others.

   There's a button to report (flag) questions just like you can for hubs that break the rules, which are spam or just incredibly poor quality.
   
   I think if you used that feature, then Hubpages could take care of those questions that really don't belong.

   You could benefit from learning Online Etiquette yourself. If you did not notice or realize, ALL CAPS is considered screaming at people. I only say that because of your ALL CAPS title of your thread.
   
   As for the questions feature on Hubpages, if you manage to find questions that are leading somewhere where they should not, then simple "flag" them and move on. Opening forum threads about them is a complete waste of time.
   
   If you are getting questions on your Hubs of this type, then do not approve them, report them as SPAM.
   
   Other than that- Have a great day.

      Not required to spend the whole day. And, it's not likely one would be foolish enough to spend the whole day doing it.

   The best way to deal with those types of crass and bothersome posts is go to one of my hubs, click on an amazon ad,.and buy something very expensive.  Only by suppporting legit hubbers like myself can we squeeze out the spammers of this world :-))

   By the way, I just went to the Questions again and it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Guess I hadn't looked for a while.

   Guilty as charged... upper case title was because I could not figure out how to italicize or boldface a word or phrase for emphasis...but it  is indeed correct that all caps is rude internet protocol...
   
   Having said that your responses are informative and sometimes humorous. I did not realize that the flags could alert for syntatical or grammatical errors...
   
   But most of all it seems most people are not bugged by these types of postings.  thanks to all.

      I think they would bug me if i paid much attention to those things at all.
      
      Once in a great while I notice an intelligent question when I happen to be looking at Stats.  Other than that, I seldom if ever would go there, so I just don't see them.  I think it is the most useless part of HubPages.

   I have a similar problem with HubHopping. And I admit to being one who could actually sit there all day flagging things--partly due to work history. Anyway, what I have done to regulate myself is to stop hopping when I finally hit one that I can approve. (That sounds really bad--I hope I simply hit a random string of baddies and that it gets better!) You can do the same thing with bad questions. If five a day is your limit, stop.

   I have seen many questions that do not make any kind of sense posted and I just keep it moving to the next question. I don't even bother opening them up.
