Spelling/Grammar corrections: What is overdoing it?

   I'm relatively new to HubPages, and I was just wondering, in the interest of encouraging high quality hubs, what is the preferred course of action when it comes to making friendly corrections to other hubbers' spelling and/or grammar? Should you comment, or not even bother? Sure someone saying "rap" when they obviously mean "wrap" irks me, but this isn't English class, and I'm certainly not the teacher! At what point does it all become overkill? Thanks

   I only offer advice on mistakes to people I like.
   
   I've been known to email webmasters of sites (even BIG sites) and give them the URL and point out whereabouts the mistake is. I don't make a routine of it though. I don't go looking for it.
   
   If I see one on a dubious looking website (usually people who refer to themselves as
   "proffessional" web designers when they clearly aren't) I don't give them the heads up. Pointing out their indiscretion will remove evidence that could otherwise be mocked by thousands of other intelligent beings.
   
   I used to live not that far from a business (a real one housed in bricks and mortar) that did Wedding Stationary, and the name of the business (in big signwriting on the awning) "Your Invited".
   
   At HubPages I think if you see one you could post a comment telling them where the error is and also a note that they can delete your comment after they've read it.
   
   I know that I would be most appreciative if it were done for me.
   
   If it's obvious that they haven't even bothered using a Word Processor spelling checker and the article has an over abundance of smelling pistakes I'd just move along and not say a word.

   "Wedding Stationary" - as opposed to "Wedding Dynamic"? 
   
   He's been kind to me already, so I think I can torment him with impunity...
   
   I'm becoming such a clumsy typist that I appreciate systems with a built-in spellchecker, although typos in other people's work scream at me so loud that it sometimes disturbs my concentration. Then there's the problem of deciding whether I  want to use English or American spelling. I tend to end up  Mid Atlantic much of the time.

   Feel free to correct mine but be aware that sometimes I write US and sometimes British usage

   Or I should say 'gilty as hall.' If you visit my hubs, please correct me in the comments section. I sometimes do a periodical spell check, but it's great to have help.
   
   It's good that you brought this thing up; I wouldn't know what to do when I see a typo in a friend's hub.

   I never know what to do with that either.  But I wouldn't mind if someone gently corrected me, as long as I could delete the comment afterwards to avoid further embarrassment!

   Some people get offended by it, so to point it out to someone you don't know could be detrimental. However, you can always help this matter by posting good-quality hubs!
