I have noticed that hubs are being moderated before the are published, and are being voted down when they are incomplete.
I have started writing my hubs straight into the capsules, but I'm getting moderated before they are completed. I am saving as I go so I don't lose anything, but they remain unpublished until I am happy with them.
My last one went down to 45 score before it had even been published, and my current hub has just dropped a point, and I am still writing it!
Are the moderators getting ahead of the game and moderating too early? I have noticed that the hub I am setting up has already been read by 4 people, and Im not even nearly halfway done yet!
"voting down" and "moderating" are two different things.
Other Hubbers can "vote down" your Hub using the buttons at the bottom of the Hub, but that has a very small influence on your HubScore.
"Moderating" refers to a HubPages team member looking at your Hub and deciding whether it meets HubPages criteria or not. That won't happen until the Hub is published, and even then it may not happen for some time.
What you're seeing is the natural fluctuation in HubScore as you write your Hub. Don't worry about it, Hubscores aren't important anyway.
That's impossible. The moderators are way too busy moderating actually-published Hubs to bother looking at stuff that hasn't been published yet.
No one except staff could possibly see Hubs that are not yet published, so no one can be rating them down, either.
I would ignore HubScore altogether until a few weeks after a Hub has been published. Before then, it's going to jump around a bit. Before it's published, it's absolutely meaningless.
I am surprised that you have not worked out in 12 months that the rating system actually has very little impact on hubscore.
My hubs vary in hubscore by 10 points or so, even though traffic remains consistent. This has nothing to do with the voting system Ryan? Why is it there then?
Anyway, its not about voting up or down by hubbers, as the hub is not published, so only moderators can view it.
I think those 4 views are your own, generated while editing the hubs because hubstat calculates it before/after publishing. I doubt moderators are checking unpublished queue because there are thousands of published hubs to moderate.
Hi, I do n't think they are being moderated by the team before you publish them. The reason I say this is because sometimes they rise or fall in score, often the score rises a little if a hub is left unpublished. It must be an automatic adjustment to do with a type of 'prediction' such as the 'forecast' you can see on the top of your hubs for $'s in the box where you can see your word count.
I would be surprised if the team who must be working flat out at the moment had time to visit unpublished hubs. As others have said it registers your own visits before you publish.
In the same way that the hubs I had to edit to comply with the Amazon changes sometimes showed red arrows, however the visits were my own to edit the hubs.
Opps, Marisa has summed it up much better than I have while I was typing this.
Basically an unpublished hub still has a hub score, which--given that it has no traffic--tends to suck, and suck even more as time passes.
Thanks Jason - was a bit perplexed this morning, and my brain must have still been asleep. Thanks for taking the time to answer this. I have now gone back to ignoring hubscore and I will just getting on with writing more hubs.
A much more worthwhile use of my time
It would be more logical if hubs didn't get a score until they were published.

Unpublished hub vs published hub...I have an unpublished hub with a higher ranking than one of my published hubs. How does that work? I got a good laugh out of it though.

Why is it that one of my hubs has 7 views even though I am still working on it?

I am presently putting together an article that is not published, obviously. But, I already have a Hub Score showing for it. Any ideas how this can be? Doesn't seem fair does it?I mean how can you score an incomplete article that has not been published yet and a low score to boot? Lower than any...

Okay, I'm one of those who can talk about nothing else but HubPages, have written about it, tell all my friends about it, and my family is so tired of hearing about HubPages they are over it.Well today, my most popular hub that has ranked 100 numerous times, has been rated useful by no less than...

I know we should report spun articles and the like, but the guidelines also warn to be careful not to report people who don't have English as their first language. However, I've come across hubs that are written by such people, and the English is pretty bad.I don't mean to be insensitive or...

This really isn't a problem, but rather something I am interested in finding out. I have a few unpublished hubs with little to no content in them, and the thing is, one of these hubs outranks one of my published hubs! I am wondering why that happens and if it is any indication of how good the hub...
