Interesting article that finds similarities in Hitler's philosophy and the modern day Tea Party's core beliefs.

Not surprising. There are plenty of politicians who just love to baffle people with BS, while planning those same people's demise. tongue smile

And, unfortunately, more than 1/2 of the country falls for these politicians' nonsense.  They're not only baffled by the politicians, they foolishly carry their water free of charge, so they can patriotically man the front lines of every one of their baseless arguments.

"Hey, I'm for cutting all programs that help the less fortunate and those who have fallen on hard times so we can extend tax cuts for corporations and the wealthiest in our society!"

In fact, I listened to someone on a talk show proclaim to the world that he didn't want to have anything to do with a healthcare program because he pulls himself up from his bootstraps.  The tragic part is this same individual admitted minutes later in the same interview that he and his family didn't have healthcare insurance because he had fallen on hard times and had to choose putting food on his table over carrying healthcare insurance.

Unfortunately, this country is being sandbagged by blatantly dishonest politicians and low level thinking that buys their BS.  Despite my frustration at this, my heart still goes out to the individual I described above because this country is too rich for the amount of families in the same situation having to make the same decisions.

It's even more unfortunate that as long as this lack of thinking is prevalent, the lobbyist, through our so called Representatives, will continue to pad their pockets off of America's working class.

With that said, I guess that makes me a bleeding heart socialist liberal.  Go figure, I make my livelihood off of two CA corporations.

oh shut up. You could compare hitler to anyone.

      G'head give it a shot.

"What do Hitler and Charlie Sheen have in common? They both started off strong but ended up pathetic losers".

      g'head, it'll be a new internet meme.

"Tea baggers love to set up shop at community and traditionally “patriotic” events such as regional and county fairs, parades, and local farmers markets. Shut them down, counter-demonstrate, and do not allow them to operate in public."

This article appears to say "fight fascism with fascism"....

What the article left out was the idea that elimination of a perceived threat to the state was likened to leukocytes taking out infections within the body....

While I disagree with tea party political opinions, and while I deride their hypocrisy, I don't see how eliminating their ability to speak is an appropriate action...

Counter-demonstrating, debating, and debunking are fine enough tactics...

And I do not agree with the "fight tactics" either.

    I agree they're fascists.
The most offensive thing to me is all this crying about America, the flag...while they care NOTHING about the ideals and the principles behind it!
Same way they do with their cross. They are NOTHING like the Christ of their claimed religion....nothing.

Not one of them shows a spark of love from their eyes, let alone a lamp shining in the darkness. They ARE darkness, IMO.

    Just look at their policies!!!

Not ONE "sacrifice" from anyone in the upper eschelons.
All the suffering must be confined to the "lesser" humans.

Koch is King. False religion is reigning. IMO

What do Hitler and Martin Luther King have in common?
    Their private ares?

    Come on...you know it's true.
At the core, they believe in corporate take-over.
Freedom from all regulations, un-ending profits, no responsibilty for their actions.

Big police state to protect their wealth....who do they continue to fund--without question--the military?

Cut social services, cut taxes at the top.
    Monoplies that control it all.

    Banks, Business and Big guns.
    And praise the Lord.

At the CORE, they're Neo-Conservatives who think they have a right to invade countries that practice the wrong religion.

      Yeah, sure.

But simply saying "HITLER" doesn't make for a good argument.

The tea party is not hitler.

No, you are correct Evan. I don't believe the Tea Party is "Hitler" either. I do believe the Tea Party has become (didn't start out this way) a Neo-fascist party.
I don't agree totally with the article, but it does point out some interesting similarities. I have much more respect for "true" Libertarians than I do the "nut fringe" that has invaded the Tea Party and the GOP.

        It's called "Godwin's Law".

It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

lovemychrisposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Must be a reason for it....maybe because we brought high-level Nazi's here after WW II,and plenty of them went to S. America too--the Vatican Lines (can't remember what it was called), and Nazi'sm never died...it's still operating all over the world.
          Still a Cult.

          Cult of superiority.

The fascist element of the Tea Party is not just their contempt for Islam or their inclination to invade countries with oil.

It's how they suppress all other viewpoints that don't conform.

We usually disagree, Evan, and you challenge my ideas but you don't act like you want to stamp them (or me) out of existence.

Of course not. I hate the tea party -- they're just neo-cons dressed up as libertarians.

          They suck

But I could easily find comparisons between countless "evil" groups and any group alive today.

Let's go with Democrats and Communists (the bad communists: the ones who are responsible for over 50 million deaths)

... lord, I could do it. easily, i'm just lazy.

just read "any speech by chairman mao" and then compare it to any Obama speech.  I'm sure there are connections.

Maybe so, but if you compare their policies to the mission statements presented by Tom Robb's Ku Klux Klan, you'll find almost endless similarities . . . right down to the specific words they choose.

Tea Party and KKK. Now why doesn't that surprise me?
          Uber nationalism meets utter intolerance.
          That's the Tea Party.

BTW, I agree with you, Evan.
The TP is not Hitler. There is no one identifiable messiah of the TP.
The TP is more akin to Nazis.
It's a movement of regular citizens who have been sold a bunch of rhetoric based on -- what else, fear and hatred.
Those who have drunk the koolaid will deny to their dying breath that it's poison.

I could also compare Al-Qaeda's rhetoric with that of Thomas Jefferson's:

"What country before ever existed a century & a half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure."

          yep. easy.

And did anyone ever demonize Thomas Jefferson as a terrorist???
            Yes.
George III, a literally insane tyrrant who ruled the most powerful Empire at the time of the American Revolution.
Thank you Evan. I can't imagine anyone else on this site who would've steered me into making that point.
            You totally made my day.

I'm just saying that any good person could be made to sound like an evil person through aimless comparisons.

If I had a recording of you talking on a day to day basis I could probably convince half the world that you were the antichrist.

Evan, you come veryy close to deriding the Tea Party because, as you stated, it has turned into a Neo-Con movement. But you appear to defend them at times when you don't, in my opinion, appear to have much in common with them. Not an attack - I am just curious where you draw the line.

Reminds me of a stalker I once had, the taperecorder thing I mean.
But I was seriously trying to make a point and I am very confident that the tparty KKK comparison is a significant one.
I offer you the challenge to yourself that you seriously check it out like I did.
