I am trying to set up an A-store on my website, which is produced using Wordpress, however I have been unable to find, (which seems quite unusual to me btw) either a Wordpress or Amazon template (plug in) to use that actually works.
I have found tutorial after tutorial that describe using the editing functions and copying over to FTP then rewriting code and other techno jargon but all are written, it would appear, that you are webmaster or programmer and assume you know you have to use varying 3rd party programs on hosting site c-panels as well as in uploading and editing in wordpress and saving files in FTP using acronyms most folks don’t know.
Does anyone know of a simple plug in for this?
Or at least a fully descriptive tutorial that has the names to the programs (or links) you need, and outlines the exact process.
It actually is very easy if all your doing is making a Amazon A store. You need no plug in at all.
Simply copy the A store code in Amazon. It will be just a small snippet of code. Then make a page in WP that you want your store to show.
Paste the code in the editor box and that's it! Use HTML view in case the visual view screws up the code.
The problem is finding a theme with a wide enough page to fit all the store inside the page. I'm using a theme that lets me use a full width for a page.
Hope that helps.
Bill Thanks, I think from reading some other hubs, mainly livewithrichard's I get it now,
Of the thousands of themes on wordpress to choose from, can you tell me the name of the one you are using for this page?
I'm using Genesis, a paid program. I highly recommend them, but you do have to pay for it.
Otherwise try to find a theme that lets you lose a sidebar in a page so the width of the store will fit. I'd give you a link to one of my stores so you can see but you can't here.
The problem I have with A stores is that they give you no SEO whatsoever. All the SE's see is that one line of code, nothing more. They don't see all the words and so on you do, only that code.
Which is why I make product pages manually. I use my own images of the products, keyword name them, add my keyword text links and add text to the page.
I rank on the first page of Google for almost all of them. Check out my tourist site in my profile and go to the store section in there to see what I mean.
The current twenty ten enables you to choose for each page one or two columns - is probably the easiest, and it is already bagged up for good SEO for search engines etc.
That is the one I am currently using, however I tried to input single product links and it wouldn't import the "widget" only the syntax text and from what I have read the columns do not allow the A store to show properly.
Thanks Bill that has been a great help.
I have just published an new novel and I built a website to promote it, in addtion to all the major bookoutlets that will be carrying it, in so, I am trying to set up an A Store as a convenience for site visitors to purchase E-readers, androids and APPs ect.
I understand the concept of placing the specific products as a stand alone referrals, but I think with the constantly changing products and pricing structures It might be a lot less site maintenance to install the store.
Yeah I do have some broken links due to items out of stock or no longer for sale. I have to keep up with them and check them.
Which is why I'm now doing that with other sponsors. They keep their stuff for sale a lot longer than stuff on Amazon, which changes a lot.
And for anyone that is interested, I have authorized my Distributor to pay an 11% commission to help promote my Novel, through either their hub articles, websites or social networks.
If you are please email me through the contact link.

When I insert an amazon ad in my wordpress.org post, it creates several inches of space after. So far I only put them at the end of the post because of this, yet there’s still huge space between the ad and the comment section, etc. I’ve been asking around and not getting anywhere. I even asked...

I've taken the plunge and got my own domain to host a new blog. It's going to be called Writers Biographies. I'm using Wordpress. Can anyone suggest any plug-ins you think I should add? I have added Akismeht and Google analytics so far.
