Did 'Son of Hamas' Mosab Yousef dupe Christian Zionists?
When Mosab Yousef, the son of a prominent Hamas leader, converted to Christianity and wrote a book chronicling his years of clandestine collaboration with Israeli security forces, he became a sensation among pro-Israel Christians in his adoptive homeland of America.
But now, other former Palestinian terrorists-turned-Evangelical Christians are accusing Mosab of duping pro-Israel churches for his own personal profit or, worse, in order to negatively influence their view of the Jewish state.
Mosab's "tale has since been revealed to be a 'long con,' the evidence coming from when he speaks publicly in Arabic," charged Walid Shoebat, a former PLO terrorist who came to faith in Jesus in 1994, and has since been an ardent Christian Zionist.
In an op-ed published online earlier this month, Shoebat further explained that "Mosab did not convert to what the West would recognize as Christianity, but to a fiery, Palestinian brand of the faith that is vehemently anti-Israel."
Indeed, there is a growing trend among Evangelical Christians, both Palestinian and Western, to adopt what has been termed "Palestinian Liberation Theology." This teaching is actually Replacement Theology in a new guise, as it denies that modern Israel has anything to do with the Bible or biblical prophecy.
Shoebat believes Mosab Yousef, riding the popularity of his book "Son of Hamas," is trying to further advance this teaching among Evangelicals in America.
In a recent interview with the Arab satellite network Al-Arabiya, Mosab told Arabic viewers:
"During my tours in universities and even churches, [I found] the real support for Israel stems from the church in the West... Israel is the problem and as an occupation it needs to end. ...we will have our victory against Israel."[/b]

I'm not familiar with Israel Today Magazine. I tried to research them, but came across a different article they published that I knew was false. Not trying to say this article is false, but I'm skeptical. I tried to double check this info with the Jerusalem Post AND Haaretz - coming up with nothing.

We'll have to wait for further developments. I am not skeptical.
AnnCee, I'm very skeptical about what I see or read on YouTube videos or Wordpress blogs. I did read the article just now on PajamasMedia, which I still do not consider proof, but cause for concern and further research. I did have a Hub promoting his book, but have unpublished that for now.
"What is forkart?"
With the Fork Art in my username, it's almost meaningless. I like to create bracelets out of forks, and had the intention of promoting them when I joined HubPages. After all this time, I still haven't gotten around to doing that.
Anyway, thanks for the thread...
I understand your concern that this is showing up in media that is less than mainstream. But in this day and age, that is very often the case, especially since the mainstream media is so clearly biased. It often takes guerrilla journalism to get anywhere near the truth.
During the initial contact within Israel’s Maskubia (Jerusalem’s central prison), Mosab agreed to collaborate in exchange for Israel not targeting his father… Mosab did not convert to what the West would recognize as Christianity, but to a fiery, Palestinian brand of the faith that is vehemently anti-Israel. According to Mosab, his main goal in coming to the U.S. is to infiltrate the main source of international support for Israel: the American church.
"Israel is the problem and as an occupation it needs to end. … There are many ways to do this besides the coward explosive operations.
….This will be the first time in history that a Palestinian book will find success so that the Western reader can see for himself the reality of what goes on over there. People in the West do not know what happens over there.
…With a balanced approach I discuss the life of the Palestinian child under the Israeli occupation, of course my life suffered under all the problems of murder and the criminal operations that were carried out by the Israeli occupation against my people, my family, myself, and against humanity."

In his book Son of Hamas, Mosab Hassan Yousef says, "I am the son of a people who have been enslaved by corrupt systems for many centuries" (p. 248). One of those corrupt systems, in his view, is the Israeli government: "I was a prisoner of the Israelis when my eyes were opened to the fact that the Palestinian people were as oppressed by their own leaders as they were by Israel....Delivered from the oppression of Europe, Israel became the oppressor" (pp. 249-250).
Israel is the oppressor of the Palestinians? It sounds as if Mosab Hassan Yousef hasn't modified his old Hamas views all that much -- for if the Palestinians would cut out the jihad against Israel, they would immediately find that Israeli "oppression" would end. But he doesn't seem to take that into account.
This doesn't mean I think he should have been deported. That he was considered for deportation at all is another blot on the much-marred record of the Obama Administration. But I am surprised that the Jewish groups that are so earnestly championing his cause don't seem to have read his book very closely.
UPDATE: Pamela Geller adds: "I heard him on the radio yesterday speak of the Israelis killing children, which took me aback."
"Judge agrees to grant asylum to ex-Israeli spy," by Elliot Spagat for AP, June 30 (thanks to all who sent this in):
SAN DIEGO -- The son of a Hamas founder who became a Christian and an Israeli spy will be granted U.S. asylum after he passes a routine background check, an immigration judge ruled Wednesday.
Mosab Hassan Yousef got the news during a 15-minute deportation hearing after a U.S. Department of Homeland Security attorney said the government was dropping its objections.
The agency denied Yousef's asylum request in February 2009, arguing that he had been involved in terrorism and was a threat to the United States.
Attorney Kerri Calcador gave no explanation for the government's change of heart....
In his book, Yousef describes growing up admiring Hamas and hating Israel, leading him to buy a couple machine guns and a handgun in 1996. He said the guns didn't work and that he was arrested by Israeli forces before he killed anyone....

He agreed to help Israel so they would leave his father alone!
WHY would ANYONE like people that suppress and murder their people? Steal their land and homes, raize their olive trees, force them into exile--living in camps,a military occupation--all these little children, bombed and shot, make their lives a living hell?
You are defending the undefensible.
Keep trying...it will never work.

Who will benefit from it? The Palestinians or the Israelis? Remember the King David hotel bombing by the Irgun in 1946, in Ramla in 1948, the Buenos Aires Israeli ambassy bombed by Israelis in 1992, Sept 11 in the US... Killing those three kids would fit their modus operandi justifying to the eyes...
