I am one of those fools who WAS born yesterday!
The grandkids are at school and will be picked up by their mom so I have no driving to do. I am over 21 and can think for myself now.
My son bought me a bottle of 15 year old Dimple Scotch Whisky. I found a shot glass and enjoyed a shot. Wow! Smooth! Even at this time of the day.
It will take me till next birthday to get through the bottle, and my daughter got me a bottle of 12 year old Chivas Regal as well. I drink very little, so I may carry it with me and share with a few friends who like a nice scotch, but like myself are not big drinkers.
Even as an older man, I still fear alcohol more than most other drugs, and only drink in moderation.
It has been a really nice day so far, and my birthday was great!
Happy birthday to all other Leos born yesterday!
Happy Birthday Earnest!...enjoy that scotch...where's that darn bday cake?
btw - i was born tomorrow sometime
Congratulations! I know it's a mugs game being born yesterday.I'd much rather be born tomorrow.
I can't say "I wasn't born yesterday ya know!" for quite a few hours.
Happy birthday, Earnest. My birthday and my daughter's was this week also. I didn't know you were a fellow Leo. Anyway, enjoy the scotch!
I knew you were a fellow Leo from the limericks thread. Happy birthday to you both!
Thank you Ron, I was gonna do that of course!
I'm not too good with remembering horoscope dates, is the 24th still Leo? The twins turn 6 on the 24th.
If things are as they used to be "astrological-signs-wise", I think it's the 20th that ends one and 21st that begins the next. The little folks are Virgos as far as I know (like my brother-in-law, 27th). (There was some change in the astrological signs stuff not long ago, but I didn't pay attention to what it is.)
Virgos eh?
Are Virgo twins usually as dangerous as these two are I wonder.
Based on my brother-in-law: Maybe. (Somehow it would seem more appropriate if they'd been born Gemini's.)
They gang up and attack with logic and some sort of 5 year old's magic to force divisions on anything they want to avoid! Adults are being eaten alive here!
Happy Birthday, Earnest! May your day be filled with joy and love and all the good you can stand!
Thank you kind lady, I am enjoying my good health, my kids, my grandkids, adopted animals and kids, the kid's mates, my few but dear friends and my life in general.
If I were religious I would say I am blessed. I like to think I have been lucky. Cancer took me right to the edge some years ago, and here I am feeling like a fit 20 year old.
Life is good for me, the sadness of those less fortunate is always there in our minds though.
I was fortunate enough to be born in a place on the planet that has had a pretty good run which I hope continues and I know how lucky I am to not be born into a village built out of garbage and built around a garbage dump in a 3rd world nation.
I know that is not due to me being a good person, there are much better people living in that garbage dump than I am, and that is so not right
So both happiness and unhappiness is felt whenever we see and feel our own "blessings"
Ra Whanau Ki A Koe Earnest from your Kiwi friend!
Sending you a giftcard for a jump
Thank you Kiwi! I used to rig on a power station feeder floor at about that height when I was a youngen..... not sure how I feel about a jump from that height now, but I do remember almost falling from the 280ft mark when some loony above started pulling the steel rope up through the floor that was supporting the only plank I had to stand on. I dropped to my knees, spun around on my hands and ran on all fours back down the plank to where my partner pulled me on to the RSJ by the hair, which was all he could reach as I was still usin those hands as feet!
A few riggers had to sit on me through the tea break to stop me killing the idiot who did it, but I did calm down in time.
On reflection, I may pass on the jump!
Just something that seems kind of applicable here: A friend and I were shopping (for my son's birthday gift bags) not long ago. There was one with a saying on it: "Old is the new young." (My son's too young for that to mean much to him, so he got the usual "Happy Birthday" on his gift wrap. My friend and I, on the other hand, could really appreciate, and relate to, that saying on the bag.
I have often heard that . . .
“The old believe everything;
The middle aged suspect everything:
The young know everything.”
What a nice and refreshing thread this is. .
Happy Happy Birthday Earnest ...
