    Hi everyone,
I’ve been here 4 months and had hoped by now I’d be earning something from Google, but I’ve not earned a dollar. From feedback, I know the quality of my writing is strong so it’s something else that’s causing poor traffic and almost non-existent clicks.  I read several tutorials and tried to get to grips with keywords, but I don’t think I have. I also wonder if I’m doing something wrong in the titles. I’ve played around with the title tuner a bit, but so far it hasn’t helped.
For instance, I’d welcome suggestions for the title of this hub:
    http://melovy.hubpages.com/hub/Travelli … l-Children
This hub was hub of the day back in August, and has had nearly 500 views, but since I changed it from the original title (to Travelling as a Solo Parent with a Baby or Small Children) it’s disappeared from the title tuner, and isn’t getting any search engine traffic. I’ve just changed it again to start: Single Parent Travel with … but I’m not convinced that’s any better.
I would be very grateful to anyone who would take a look at this or any of my hubs and let me know if it looks like a title or keyword problem.

I thought your article was great smile I would add 'parenting, parenting travel tips' to your tags. Also, if your articles are parental and family oriented, I'd suggest joining a forum with your HP url in the signature and just say, here n there, you wrote a article in such n such topic. It's on you to generate traffic and this is one method. Use the search bar at the top right corner to find Hubs about getting traffic smile hope this helps.

      Hello Dame Scribe,
Thank you very much for you encouraging response. Your suggestions are very helpful too; funnily enough someone has just given me the contact details of a  person who recently started a new parenting site, so I will contact them and also do as you have suggested. Your advice about tags is great too, thanks.

You've been here for four months, I've been here for almost four years. I have yet to figure out how the dice roll.

Be patient and learn as you go.

There's no easy answer to your questions, nor any answer that you are going to get here from long-time Hubbers. Put your time in and learn. It took me nearly 18 months to earn a first Google payout, but now I earn a consistent monthly payout from the HP Ad program and Amazon.

    Just keep plugging and learning.

      Hi Sally’s Trove,
Thank you for your reply. It’s useful to know that it takes some people a while to see returns, and that it then becomes consistent. I will as you say, just keep writing and plugging away.

Perhaps this may help. I have been writing for HubPages for 8 months and about to receive both HubPages Ads and Adsense payouts. I have also made some Amazon sales. What I do on regular basis is tweet my hubs when they are first published, post them to Facebook, post links on IMAutomator and on Redgage. I also tweet all of my hubs about once every three weeks. I also write articles on Blogger,Associated Content and post tips on Tipdrop. Everything has links to my hubs and this as a whole seems to be slowly directing traffic to my hubs.   cool

      Hi LuisEGonzalez,
Thanks very much for this information. I have started a twitter account and am still learning the ropes; I’ve been very wary of coming across as spamming, so have only posted links to a few of my articles. From what you’re saying I could do a lot more. I hadn’t even heard of IMAutomator, Associated Content or Tipdrop before so will look them up. Congratulations on getting to your first payouts!

I've been here 3 years. It was very slow going the first year but after that, things pick up if you keep writing. LuisEGonzalez has some excellent advice there - you need links on FB, Twitter and all those other sites to drive traffic to your hubs. Keep at it - and you won't be sorry you did smile
