Hub unpublished - not fair - bitter taste

   Hi there,
   
   I am new to hubpages and already feel unwanted here.
   While I can understand the hate for spammers I think the methods are too drastic.
   
   I published my first hub at: <link snipped>
   Don't try to follow the link because the article is not there anymore, after three days was taken down for being over promotional. I didn't know what the rules were, they are not easy to find, such as a link in my account. I passed the quota with one link, and the hub was taken down. The links are nofollow anyway, so what's the rush? Wouldn't a warning, email or any other form be nicer?
   
   Is that the usual way to welcome a new hubber? If that is true I don't think it's my type of community.

      First, the links are not necessarily nofollow - a hub score above 40 coupled with a hubber score above 75 will make them dofollow.
      
      Secondly, if you don't follow the rules you can expect HP to unpublish your hubs.  It is not up to them to spoon feed those rules to you; they are readily available in the learning center which should be read before publishing anyway.  I'm sorry you found out this way and strongly suggest you read and understand these rules or you will find other work unpublished for other violations.  Hp has made many changes in recent months to try and combat the effects of the Panda updates.
      
      Don't give up - HP really is a good place to write and get published.  You just have to follow the rules that are in effect to improve the site for everyone.
      
      *edit* For a first hub, this is pretty well written.  Get rid of one of the links and move that first picture down next to the second text capsule (that will move the google ad up into that prime real estate currently occupied by the pic) and you might have a winner.

         Thanks for the tip. I tried that, but the add stayed in the second capsule below the picture. I moved the picture further down so that the ad will be above the fold.

      I agree with Wilderness, you need to know what you can and cannot do before plunging in.. I can honestly say Hubpages is one great place to write for and has a wonderful community to interact with.
      Hey welcome aboard... just read up the stuff here and you will do well.. don't take this badly.. you will see that this is a great place indeed...

      When you sign up to be a user on this site site, the wording of the user contract includes statements by which you state and affirm that you have read the entire terms of service first, you understand the terms as stated and you agree to abide by the site rules.  It is your legal responsibility to have read the terms before you join the site, and this applies to user agreements on any site on the internet.  Claiming ignorance of the rules isn't going to absolve you of having to abide by them, especially as HubPages has your electronic signature on a document saying you claim to know and understand the rules.
      
      There is a link to the FAQ (help) and the terms of use on every single page on this entire website.
      
      There are automatic filters in place which scan and treat all content equally, so it's not like anyone is picking on you.  You've messed up so basically a robot program unpublished your hub.  And most new people who decide not to read the user agreement have a very similar first experience to yours.

      Thanks all for your answers, it makes me feel better.
      I read the Terms of Service and it doesn't specify the number of allowed links. I found this in the learning center, my logic deceived me this time, I didn't think I would the publishing rules in the learning center.
      
      I did take the third link down, even before writing the first post, and that was what got me frustrated, when I realized that fixing the problem wouldn't automatically republish the hub.
      
      On another note, wouldn't be wiser to keep the hub unpublished until the robot scans it and only then publish it? For me it's just matter of perception, don't give me something that you know you might take back.

         From the learning center on moderation of overly promotional hubs:
         
         "When you are ready to have HubPages review it again, click the "Submit for Publication" button. We will review your Hub and, if appropriate, republish it. If your Hub is republished, you will receive an email letting you know. This process can take up to 72 hours."

      Don't become frustrated. There are many users on HP and many have had the same thing happen. It is better to have the first hub pulled down, then to wait until you are months into it. At that point you have to rush to correct it. When you are creating a hub, keep an eye on the right hand corner before you publish. A little reminder pops up that says, "this hub may be over-promotional". or something similar to that. If you go to the upper right-hand corner of your page. See it at the top? It says "Help". You will find all of your answers there. If you still do not understand what over-promotional means or how to correct it, contact team@hubpages.com give them appr. 72 hours and you should receive an answer. If you wish to not go through all of that, then you can ask us and of course we will be glad to help. Send an e-mail if you don't wish for the entire world to see. Welcome to HP. You will do just fine.

                        I just want to make a comment about overly commercial Hubs.  I get enought advertising from TV.  I read the Hubs because they are done by talented writers who don't have anything to promote except their talent.
