Revenue Potential

   Does anyone know what Revenue Potential under Hub Metrics relates to -- Adsense or Hub Pages Ad Program? I am guessing it is one or the other since each program has their own respective ad sources and space.

   It's based on keywords and content. However it's highly inaccurate and it's possible to have five stars and never earn a cent.
   
   For instance, you may write on a topic like mesothelioma (which pays highly for clicks) but because it's so saturated you'll probably never get visitors.
   
   On the other hand you may write on a topic that only gets 10c a click (and for that reason may get one star), and attracts people who click your adverts all the time. However you may earn lots of money off the topic if you get enough traffic and clicks.

      QM, that sounds like it relates to Adsense only?
      
      I am wondering if the HP ad program CPM payments increase according to the topic/types of keywords in hubs ...

         Probably in a general way it is based on Adsense - but you'll find, as I said, that it really is only a VERY general guide and actually bears no indication on real earnings.
         
         I have hubs with * that earn me plenty while hubs that have ***** earn nothing. I'd ignore it, just as I ignore hub and author scores.

            Also, remember that many people who view your hub will see adverts based on their search history - if they come to your hub about date pudding and have been searching holidays, they'll likely see holiday related adverts.
            
            Both Adsense & HPads are based on country as well. US traffic usually pays a lot higher than say Indian traffic. Conversion rates also come into it when applied to HPads - if only one in 1000 people click, you'll probably have a lot lower earning than a hub where lots of people click.

   There was a couple of hubbers who were averaging, according to them, about $2-$4 thousand a month. There are some hubbers who presently make over $1K a month.

   Revenue potential is measured on a scale of 1 to 5. The number of $ signs that you see in your hub metrics is the revenue potential of your hub. It is some thing that is calculated on the usefulness of your hub to people. More useful and more informative it is more people will search for it thus more ad placement and more money  it will make thus it will have a higher  potential revenue.
