   I have not been posting or doing much here on Hubpages. But that doesn't mean it isn't a great site and I really think it is doing great things! I hope everyone is still doing really good here. Ever since I went from pulling in as much as $10 a day before the panda crash, to pulling in just cents. I've been taking all of my time and effort to learn wordpress and planning how I am going to use it/execute it.
   
   Needless to say I am glad I took the time to learn it. I myself did most of the learning but trial and error, and didn't do much research or anything. Just stuck my nose in and made my strides.
   
   Hubpages was a great place to learn all about SEO and how the internet works, and Wordpress is a great way to make a site JUST LIKE hubpages.
   
   Your own website is said to be the best way to make money on the internet, but it is clear Hubpages could still certainly be apart of your income. Just remember that publishing articles is very easy, and you do not need hubpages to do it. Wordpress makes it easy for you to do the exact same thing.
   
   Who has wordpress sites or uses it? Anyone thinking about getting their own website up? I finally got a website up, it isn't where I want it, but its close!

   I will definitely check out wordpress. I am new to hubpages (well, back to hubpages after a three year layoff), writing a lot, getting some followers, but wondering (as my earnings climb to .27 for the month) can my efforts make some real money elsewhere on the web? I have one article on Triond and am researching Squidoo. I know it takes time, but I want to make sure that my time writing, interviewing people, doing research, etc. is used wisely.
   
   I have come to appreciate the hubpages community. I like reading the hubs, getting feedback and getting to know other authors. Hubpages may become less integral part of my writing if I find better ways of making money, but it certainly is a great starting point that I would recommend to anyone. I do want to give it a chance and explore earning potential.
   
   I keep reading about the panda "thing." I will have to investigate what that is all about.

      Panda was a Google Algo change. It effected the amount of views sites like Hubpages would receive.

   I agree that WordPress is awesome and I congratulate you on your effort of just diving in and discovering what you can do with it by trial and error - i often think it's the best way to get used to using WordPress - it's how I started with WordPress, and now I have a few WordPress sites. My one WordPress site is currently making me roughly $50 per month with only 95 articles on the site. Keep on enjoying WordPress - but yes, I agree that HubPages is an excellent addition to using one's own sites, and I too have learned a lot about SEO and site marketing right here on HubPages - and even if I made absolutely nothing on HubPages, I feel compelled to stick around because of the awesome community here.

   I am into Wordpress with a few sites now - I found it the easiest to get to grips with of all the options I tried.
   
   I use Hubpages to publish articles that relate to my sites - and also have been busy with other things so just about to get back to getting a few hubs up and running in the next months.

   I actually wrote a hub once on me helping others to build a wordpress site. What I did was show them the way to get a great domain name and the right hosting. I then built their wordpress blog and guided them through the process.
   
   What I found was, a lot of interest. So much so I had trouble keeping up and took down the hub in the end.
   
   Helping others and guiding them to getting their very own web presence is a great thing that in return, gives you friends forever.
   
   There is nothing better than having someone at emails distance to call upon for help when your running your own profitable and rewarding site.

      That is awesome. I don't have that luxury, or haven't been able put myself in that situation rather. There have been bunches of times when I could have used help, but I wouldn't know what to ask, because I'm not sure what I should do most of the time!

   I love Wordpress. I used to spend hours designing and building websites, leaving me very little time to write the content.  Once I discovered Wordpress, I finally had the time to concentrate on my content instead of web design.

      From what I read here, WordPress site sounds good.  But do they have any restrictions like HubPages, such as affiliate links are not allowed, etc.?

         Hi PT, if you get a Wordpress blog on your own hosting account, it is yours and no one else can share the income or anything else. It's your site to do with it what you want.
         
         You write a post, put affiliate links in the content and have Adsense or anything else on the page.
         
         The cost to start is minimal. Take a Go-Daddy account for instance. It cost about 3 bucks for a domain name and about $45 a year for the hosting. That's all there is to it.
         
         If no one can make $50 a year from their own blog, they have not been listening.

            I was actually thinking of the Wordpress free blog. However, will now seriously consider starting one on my own hosting account since the cost is minimal.  Thanks, TerryGI.

         Wordpress is not a web site. It is a fancy blog. You have to download wordpress then learn how to use the plug ins and keep up to date. You also need a hosting company and a paid domain name. It is misleading here. Word Press is not like Hub Pages at all. You can use a blogger blog, a free website company or create a blog or site using word press. Some of the hosting companies support word press and have a C panel where you can download Wordpress with various plugins built in which is supposed to be easier than downloading from the wordpress site itself. Of course, you can go to the free Word Press which works much like blogger in that it is already set up, and that is where there are restricitons on what you post.  There is a wordpress.org and a wordpress.com. One is free, the other is not due to the need for hosting and a paid domain name

   Hubpages don´t allow you publish the same content on Wordpress and Hubpages. My earning have started out small of Hub but nothing on Wordpress. Hubpages is rather cosy, alas at Wordpress I feel alone and lost.

      Hi LindaSmith1, thanks for the useful info.  Looks like some technical knowledge is needed for setting up a site at Wordpress.  Sounds a bit difficult to me.

    LindaSmith1 is correct - a difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com - wordpress.org blogs you will need a domain registered and will need to order hosting. @pinkytoy - a bit of technical knowledge helps, but it's not all that difficult - there are easy-to-follow videos and tutorials all over the Internet to learn how to set one up, and once you've got your site looking how you want it to look, adding articles to you site is easy - no html knowledge needed - the default system comes with a few easy to use plugins for your widget areas, and just for the basics, no more plugins are actually needed to get started - you can worry about adding more plugins later. There are over 1 000 free WordPress themes to choose from - I love using WordPress - and if you can follow simple step by step instructions, anyone can use WordPress to create their very own site - own domain name and everything, just needs a domain registered and hosting first.
