How do you feel about Facebook? Would you delete your account?

This question may seem weird. But I've had an epiphany of sorts when it comes to Facebook. I recently deactivated my account because I felt overexposed and was sick of reading narcissistic or meaningless profile updates.

However, I did not delete my account for good. And then I realized that I may never delete my Facebook account and that I might have a Facebook profile for as long as I live.

In essence, my Facebook will grow up with me. This thought really creeps me out.

I would like to know if anyone has similar opinions or just tell me how do you generally feel about using Facebook.

Its true. Facebook is no longer about connecting with the world. It does promote narcissism, and you are often exposed to things that you would rather not know. Having said that, I find it a little immature to delete/deactivate my account, purely because there still are a few pages/people that may give meaningful updates/news that you might not find elsewhere at the blink of an eye.

        Really?
If you would rather not know, then don't befriend people who you don't care to know about.
The socialized interaction is second to none and the possibilities of getting connected to others for a greater good purpose is boundless. wink

I see what you are saying Senoritaa, but I don't think I need to recieve information at the blink of an eye.  Some instantaneous information seems more like a bombardment to me.

I have Facebook, but I don't really do anything on it.  I just have it in case I want it for some reason.  What I do, though, is keep de-activating and re-activating it.  First, I'll think I'm in the mood to just have it up.  Then I'll get into my "withdrawing from the whole Internet thing" and deactivate it.  I don't really know what my problem is...  No Facebook "gene",  I guess.  hmm  I pretty much only want to write on the Internet (and shop  smile ).  I don't even know what people do on Facebook.   The forums here are easy.  I know how they work and am not bombarded with a bunch of "what-on-Earth-is-all-this-stuff" kind of stuff.  smile  (Oh - and go to YouTube.  smile  )

I do know what you mean about feeling over-exposed.  I go around and turn off most of what I have for writing to private settings (then my Google earnings go down, so I go around and put them all back on "public" again.   lol

Yeah, I have no interest in deleting my Facebook account. I find it somewhat funny since no other social network even came close to grabbing so much of my attention.
