I have a few hubs on my other account. What if I create many sockpuppet accounts on hubpages (which is easy of course), and click on the adsense and amazon ads on that accout's hubs?

    Money...

I think adsense will deduct money at least that has happened to many people i have heard about.  or do you mean creating accounts and clicking on your own adds??

"or do you mean creating accounts and clicking on your own adds??"   -I just mean that. It's possible, given that you use IP -softwares, or multiple sim cards.

      Go ahead. Make my day!

You only get one Adsense account, and when it is gone, it is gone.

And yours will be gone in a flash if you carry out this plan. But, hey, so what, you'll just make another....!

The whole point of HubPages is to write.  Most of us actually do care about the integrity of our accounts. You might be able to game the system for a little while before someone caught you.  But they would.  And in the meantime, you make the rest of us, who do this for real reasons, look bad.

You will lose your adsense account and any earnings accrued.  Believe it or not but google does not decide who you are based on your Hubpages account.

There are more ways to track a connection than an IP address.  besides your usage will generally stay within an IP range, and unless you are willing to invest in new hardware for every click, your mac address will give you away.

Well, that's not entirely true.  Many, many routers can be configured with any MAC you want.  This feature is usually used when replacing an old router - it saves time with reconfiguring other devices, flushing arp etc.

But your ISP knows where you are regardless.  Ticking off Google is one thing, ticking off the FBI is something else entirely.

When your computer sends a request, such as a Google query, it tags the request with its IP address in order for the response to be sent back to your computer -- just like a return address on a letter

Google can detect the use of proxy servers.  The only way to make it work is to click your ads from different computers on different internet connections in a wide geographical area. You'd spend more on gas than you would make from Adsense. smile

I sincerely doubt that, Google often takes legal action against professional click fraud, if that woman was getting paid by google then google knows her address and probably her bank details, they would have made sure they got that money back.

Mention a single legal case as such. Google can do that within the political territory that it originates from- US; not beyond. There are no international laws that prevent.

There are ways to do things but they are blackhat methods that still require work and are not as satisfying as delivering quality content.  Add to that the fact that Google engineers have PhDs in some of the toughest cutting edge fields of math and technology and they have devised algorithms to keep this to a minimum.

    1. Randiez profile image58

In today's world PhDs are rather rare. Had they only brought Nobel prize winners, it might have made a significant moral improvement in their organization.

Not only that you devalue the ad program for others.  What I mean is that meaningless ad clicks don't generate any income for the advertisers and as such they may tend to pay less or not at all for such ads.  I'm sure you don't care about that if considering "sockpuppets" but it is truth.

I'm pretty sure in runs on your I.P address.

Which means even if you had 1,000 accounts they'd all be tracked from the same spot, so google will be able to rat you out easily.

    Don't try it!

To those reading this thread, DO NOT BE TEMPTED!!

Google knows more about you than GOD, so no matter what tricks you use, they will find you out.

As has been said already in this thread, this is not Google's money, this is advertisers money.

Those advertisers could be you or me.

Using a proxy won't help as on my site I can see the IP that makes the visit AND the IP that originated the proxy IP.  I can't see how Google would recognise if you used a different computer on a different address entirely unless they scan for many clicks in one direction, my guess is that they can and do. the few clicks that might get under the radar would hardly be worth the bother I would say.

A troll is someone who writes/says something just to create trouble and keeps it going without regard to any other logical argument except to take them down and create further trouble.

There are other definitions for troll because there are a lot of actions that are considered "trolling".

Because the Original Poster made a post about something he is probably not serious about doing and how he keeps finding ways to keep the absurd idea going, he would most likely be a troll.

However, if he's serious about his ideas and his techniques to keep himself from getting caught - so he didn't just make the thread to cause trouble - then he wouldn't be a troll.

However, he would be dumb as most IP "hiding" websites and softwares do not fully hide the IP. They still have traces, which Google can probably detect since it is a software giant. They also have algorithms based on total visitors, time spent, time spent on ad, and other factors that can reveal if a hubber is getting a normal level of traffic.

Either way, troll or dummy, his idea is a bad idea and it is best to not respond to him at all beyond the first reply.
