The New Postindustrial Paradigm

   Of course, the current socioeconomic situation is precarious to say the least.  However, the old paradigm of job security is totally extinct.   Furthermore, manufacturing jobs are going overseas and many high paying jobs are being totally eliminated.    There is a rise of minimally waged service jobs.  These jobs, of course, are commonplace.   What we need is to adopt to the paradigm of the times.  That is, if currently employed, we need either to upgrade and/or change our skills to meet the demands of a computerized, post industrial society.    The old paradigm is totally dead and we continue to act if we are living in a 20th century industrial, corporate society, we will face economic extintion.  We need to tailor our skils and education to meet the demands of a postindustrial, 21st century society.

   You may not be able to upgrade fast enough to outpace automation and AI. 
   
   Even low priced overseas jobs are falling victim.  This is going to be a big, big problem over the next few decades.

      Thank you, knolyourself, for providing a link to the text you quoted. As a sidebar to gmwilliams' intended topic for this thread, what you accept as “the real plan,” I read as just one man’s view of history.
      
      This review of F. William Engdahl's book "Full Spectrum Dominance: Totalitarian Democracy in the New World Order" provides interesting, albeit unconvincing, conjecture. In total, it represents one unbalanced interpretation of world events while leaving no room for other viewpoints. All of the theories and assumptions are presented as if they are the elements of a US plot to dominate both the planet and the human race. There is no substantive evidence offered within the historical accounts to support any claim that the conclusions suggested are facts. To the contrary, the article weaves decades of world events into a quilt of weak and incredible arguments. The author goes to admirable lengths to create the illusion of a US master plan to control the world. However, the US foreign policies portrayed are, after a careful read, just a rehash of US goals and activities designed to further US influence and power in many foreign geopolitical arenas. In the final analysis, that is exactly what every country’s foreign policy is designed to accomplish.
