HubScore Dropped During HubChallenge?

Has anyone else noticed their HubScore drop since starting the Hub Challenge? I know it goes up and down based on traffic, so you'd think with publishing more Hubs, it would go up, right? Weird.

Mine has as well.  Mine usually goes down upon submission of a new hub, so now that I am submitting more hubs in a short period of time it has been lower than its has in months.

Up and down  -"lissie" seems to be more up than down - which is not usual normal I see a drop too when I publish a new hub - maybe its because I  have so many hubs now one more doesn't make much difference?
My new ID has climbed slowly to 87 and seems stuck there - I have only published 17 so far so I'm a little surprised tbat this one is not bounced around more. Gonna add a whole bunch of hubs to it over the next couple of days and see what happens :-)

I seem to be bouncing around from 92 to 96 and back. Had one shining moment at 97.

As far as I can tell, hubber score is graded on a curve based on a number of factors including traffic, so I would expect everyone's score to be bouncing around with the hubchallenge pouring new content into the site.

Only a few more weeks 'till normality is resumed. big_smile

What about those of us who have "dropped out" of the challenge or dropped back? I am getting weirded out not being at 98-100 all the time lol

      Have you quit already? smile

What I meant by "graded on a curve," is the hubber score is a reflection of performance in comparison with all the other hubbers. So - for instance, my score has jumped up since I started publishing again - which will have had an adverse affect on everyone else's score. It used to be there would only ever be one hubber with a 100 score - but that has changed recently, so I don't know how many 100s there are in the box.

Thank you, Mark.  That is the clearly stated explanation to much of this that I have seen.  It makes a lot of sense now.

Well even though I am not taking part in the challenge my scores over the last few weeks have consistently been higher than before the challenge started, although of course this may just be coincidence.

My hubber score jumped up since I recently started publishing hubs again after a long break.  I didn't know other people's scores could affect mine, though.

Wow, a lot of responses, thanks.

I've always noticed the little drop after publishing a hub, I just never thought about others scores affecting yours. I was just thinking along the lines that because the site is being bombarded with new Hubs, it makes for more competition for some of mine, decreasing their traffic?

@ EM - did you drop out? I only committed to 30 and not all of them are of Flagship quality, only a few.

Yes, and a lot more sleep on the way ...

I don't have too many hubs, so it's not a large sample size but I'm noticing a drop in my overall score. It's very slow and steady, so maybe Mark Knowles is right about everybody's score affecting the whole, they're churning out more hubs daily, I'm not, so they're affecting the curve more than me.

I am sure everything will settle down once the input has time to catch up with the output smile cheers to our awesome Challengers I say!

@ David - I think that really is what's effecting the scores. I mean, it makes sense.

@ Dame - It will be neat to see how this challenge affects the site, community, SERPs and all that. That's why I'm doing it - we're making official HubPages history! What an honor big_smile

I've finally hit 100 a few times since the challenge. And my traffic is not significantly increased now (it was the first couple of days, but it's settled back to average).
