    report from Politco 2012
Stephen Colbert would edge out Jon Huntsman in the South Carolina Republican primary.
That’s according to a Public Policy Polling survey out Tuesday that found the late-night comic picking up 5 percent of the vote, compared with Huntsman’s 4 percent.

Well, it's not really a surprise. I like Huntsman and he has plenty of experience but he hasn't made much of a national impression and has failed to captivate Republicans.

Given how this campaign season has gone, with each candidate getting his/her moment in the sun -- all with the exception of John Huntsman -- is it remotely possible that this is all scripted?
And that Huntsman, not Romney, is the intended nominee?
To say something doesn't ring true here (all of it) is an understatement.
How can a party accept a nominee no one seems to like??

    LOL.
I saw that on the Colbert Report this afternoon.
I must not have been paying close attention, tho.
I read the figures as Colbert 50% to Huntsman's 4%. smile

    I'd vote for a Stewart/Colbert or Colbert/Stewart ticket in a heartbeat.
    LOVE THOSE GUYS!!

The big announcement is probably that he isn't on the ballot, and that the state doesn't allow write-ins.

Hopefully it'll get Democrats to the polls, anyway. They tend to vote for Ron Paul.

They'll see that there's no way of even voting for Colbert, and then say "well, Paul's the next best!".

That's like saying you'll settle for a buffalo turd sandwich because they ran out of foie gras.  True, the sandwich is next best if that's all there is...

Only Stephen Colbert truly cares about me.
I feel part of not just a political movement, but an established community with Stephen.
How many other candidates do you see addressing their constituents as NATION?
    Zero.
The words just don't even flow together.
    1. Gingrich Nation (try saying that even one time slowly)
    2. Santorum Nation (same problem. doesn't flow. needs an extra syllable like Sanitorium Nation -- there. that's better!)
    3. Perry Nation (dangerously close to perineal pain!)
    4. Ron Paul Nation (best of the lot, but reminds me too much of other two first name phrases like Davy Jones' Locker, Jean Paul Sartre, etc.)
    4. Romney Nation (getting close if you shorten to Romnation or Romination rhymes with domination, but ideologically I'm not for US domination)

And on the other side there's Obama Nation.
Not a group I really want to be associated with, for obvious reasons.

Stephen's hawt and he's got it going ON!

People: If you are going to write in Stephen Colbert, don't forget to include the silent "t" -- it's COLBERT. Let's not forget what happened in Alaska with Lisa MURKOWSKI's write-in campaign!

... Sorry, Colbert, but Paul comes first. I'm gonna have to boycott ya.

One man is too late to get on the ballot. Another male is depicted on it, but has ended his campaign. How can this work out for both? Friday afternoon, comic Colbert and previous GOP candidate Herman Cain will appear together before a South Carolina crowd and attempt to persuade them that a vote for Cain is a vote for Colbert. Source for this article: Stephen Colbert runs in S.C. primary as Herman Cain.

WOW, I wonder why Ron Paul has only been on his show once then? I know John Stewart likes him, and he talks about him all the time, but Colbert coming out strong like that and shutting up the talking heads was just fantistic!!
