Can veteran hubbers who are getting huge influx of external traffic from search engine hits suggest ways to get high searches for their hubs and more traffic?
Also, please write how, how often and whether the updated hub should be shared again with followers or on the social networking sites on which one has earlier shared these hubs?

I write an online article then leave it completely alone.

If you find really good keywords, you often don't need to backlink, especially on a rev share site.

I try and write Hubs on topics for which I have had many years to decades of moderate to strong personal interest.  This seems to guarantee that there's a ready-made audience out there for it.

The only Hubs I share again with followers are the few I have on making Hubs and I only re-share those when a major informational change or update happens.  Once per year at most.

    I don't use social networks.

      Regarding update of a hub

What is the best way to update content?

I mean either editing the existing word count (most of my content targeting keywords with review or information about it, so I can't edit it)

or adding additional text capsule at the end of the existing hub?

Get people to comment. That makes fresh content. smile Or a relevant RSS feed.

I've updated a couple of my hubs by adding an additional text capsule at the end of the existing hub. Of course, the content lent itself to this type of add-on. Some hubs might need editing throughout, depending on what type of "update" is needed.

It's fine sharing when you publish, but to share and share and share is just spam!!

New Hubs are automatically shared. To do it then is redundant, and thus spammy.

Internal traffic doesn't make you money.

Social networking traffic doesn't make you money, or if it's your friends, can get you banned when they try to help. tongue

Regarding an update to a hub. Does this need to be shared? Since the hub update is included in the published hub.
    Hubbers what are your views?

Unless the update radically changes the content or corrects errors in the original content, I don't think it needs to be shared. If it does, those readers who commented about the original hub might be interested in the updated hub.

I share new hubs... but never an old or updated one.. Old updated ones always find a lot of Google traffic.
With your followers receiving mails and notification and the feed throwing up stuff .. we may really not need to share so much unless we are promoting another hubber's hub to our followers.
I have been thinking of not sharing my hubs since I use the feed a lot lately.

I share Hubs on FB or other social forums/sites when they are relevant to a discussion. I join groups that relate to the subjects I write about (mainly horses). I'm not one of the ones making big bucks but am earning a payout monthly now.

I think if you write good quality content and not copied or spun articles you have a good chance of getting some traffic. Do your keyword research using the Google Keyword tool or something similar, and target keywords with low or medium competition and a search volume of over 1k globally. Share on Facebook or Twitter once after you publish it and let it ferment for the month, then you can look at your stats and see where your traffic is coming from.

This could get deep, there are a lot of good hubs written about driving traffic to you hubs, just do a search and I'm sure you will find what your looking for. Hope this helps smile

I just read the hub about where to put keywords. This called on page optimization. Then you have the off page optimization and that is where it gets more complex. But being creative can can also help as far as finding places to put links.

There is a story about how Scientology came up first under "big scam" or something similar. No where did Scientolgy have this on their website. But a group of websites put links to them with these words and they came up number 1 in a search for that.

I think it is worth spending $25 for a good book on it by an expert like I did. Of course keep in mind that Google does not want the pages that are optimized the best to come up first but the ones with the best content. So they are always trying to outsmart the SEO expert. The number one rule of SEO is to write the best article possible for the reader.

I was at a meeting for this and one company paid to have all these links to them and when Google found out, they were banned from the searches. Now a brilliant guy said that they did it wrong. He said that the way to do it would be to pay websites to put up links to many different webpages that have a link to your website.

This also makes the links deeper. Like if you can get 10 webpages to link to you, then get 5 of them to link to the other 5 that have links to you. This is not a great topic for me since I do not have a passion for money and that is the purpose of SEO. I have a passion for helping people with their health.
