Who hates the snake for being venomous?

   Why would one hate a fly for flying around the room? Who would hate a mosquito for eating? Who would hate a snake for defending it's self? Who would hate themselve's for dying?

         Those pesky flies can sure get annoying. You can choose to capture in a cup and send outside, zap it or swat it depending upon your inclination.
         
         As for the snake, stay out of the way.

               There is no heaven but this and you percieve heaven everyday. Most just refuse to see it and are attached to the many aspects of suffering. It's easier to see our perceptions through emotion, than it is to see it for what it is. Life in all of it's forms are perceptions to one degree or another, but a fly is an ellephant to a flea, as the universe is to us. A source of life and a perception of it's self.

                              Well, I totally agree that television is a distraction, as I haven't really watched live TV in quite a few years.  However, I still reason in the media known as music, although I rarely get to enjoy it.  Anyway, I'm surprised you have never heard of that ban and their song about Zen.   ...Just brought it up because this is a "Zen" forum.   Okay, I'll retain my casualness and try to be more serious; ha!

                                 I know about the band Bush, I just don't listen to their songs. I stopped listening to the radio when I was 20 years old, about 15 years ago. If I am around a radio, I usually am not listening to it. Unless of course it's NPR or something with an educational value.

                                 Learning about things is good, letting the brain be in charge, hinders true seeing. One cannot truly be one's self with the brain running all of the time. The only thing that realy separates us from what is, is the brain.

            I agree. 
            It's not that the snake chooses to be bad; unlike humans, it's just the way it is.  Humans have sense enough to know not to trust an animal that's inherently dangerous to mankind.

      All these creeping creatures and the snakes and the vultures and the likes; have the right to live in this universe; we have to learn to coexist with them. Actually these scary creatures have parallel to human beings attitudes and personality...some personality are venomous snakes wich means they are traitors and they bite...deadly bite.

      I've handled 100s of snakes, as a kid I put 5 snake down my shirt to keep me cool off in the summer time. Only been bitten once from my first captured snake. My Mother was cleaning out my dressers draws and picked up a 6 snake in her hands thinking they were part of the snakes and latter’s game. Love snakes, Mother hated snakes so the snakes had to leave home. Went to a snake temple in Malaysia were 1000s of venomous snake hung out by candle light and smoking incents, you would of love this place Randy

         Most of the lord shiva temples in indian forests have venomous snakes around statue or other parts of the temple. Atleast here in marleshwar, there are many venomous snakes who enjoy sleep without any attack from humans. Weird thing is they don't bite even if you touch them, that applies to snakes inside the temple, not outside. lol

               Biting is the only defense that exists in case of some birds and snakes. I just don't understand how come they differentiate between harmful and neutral humans roaming around them. Afterall we're talking about animal with less developed brain to process these complex thoughts.

                     Here's why i find it strange. I have two parakeets at home and whenever i get close to the cage in bad mood, these guys run away from me. If i'm in good mood and get close to the cage, birds don't move at all. I am guessing is it because of magnetic field around me that these birds are sensing? Same goes for snakes too?

                                    They were around the altar. If a snake has no reason to feel threatened, The snake will most likely not bite. If one has a threatening presence, the snake is most likely to strike. When we feel a threat or we don't understand something, we are likely to destroy it or convert it.

                                    That might have been the snake temple I was in. No photos are allowed because the snake handle make their money from tourist posing with the snake on their shoulders.  This one snake handler set a big viper on my shoulder, I said …..get him off me, pleassse, because this snake handler had many prior bites on his hand

   Women, however, will do exactly what you tell them not to.  Take Eve for example.  The most powerful being in existence told her not to eat the fruit and instead of obeying him, she listened to a snake.  Just goes to show you God didn't know much about women, even after all of his boasting about his powers.  It thought it was just a joke!  Now who gets blamed for it?

   Native Americans asked the first European settlers this question: "Why do you kill all snakes?" The reason they killed all snakes was because they'd grown up with iconographic images and bible text telling them serpents(snakes)were evil and of the Devil. Fear of snakes in humans is a learned trait, not an inherent one.

      I don't know how accurate is that. There aren't any forests left here in Pune, so snakes are rare. I guess that guy must be living near forest or river. I usually see snakes during my country side visits. I only heard stories of cobras chasing few farmers in that area. Never found truth in that. People do exaggerate especially when it comes to snakes.

      Spent 3 months in India by far the most dangerous  animal are dogs, got mugged by monkeys in Nepal yet only saw one cobra snake charmer/
