Anyone else get Chronic Mouth Ulcers? (Large Ones?)

   I usually get 2-3 at 1 or 2 periods in a month, I found this website which has  message board for people who suffer badly with painful ulcers almost 1cm in size... They drain the life out of you and make you seem unpleasant to people when you just can't smile!

      Try taking a zinc supplement.  I work in Oral surgery.  You might just be lacking in zinc.  Stay away from acidic foods and alcoholic beverages.  Stress triggers a reaction too.  Find a healthier way of dealing with your stressers.  Your body is telling you enough is enough. Thrush and other fungal infections can cause these types of sores.  There are even variations of the herpes virus that can cause these ulcerations and have similar characteristics as to what you have described here.

         Yes, that's why I asked.  I get terrrrible fever blister, sometimes inside my mouth on the gums.  My lymph nodes get all swollen, my throat will even hurt sometime.  I've tried Lysine, but it doesn't seem to work for me.  You are so right about stress- there's a huge connection there.  That and sun, for me.  I'm interested in trying the zinc supplement.  It's not something I've tried yet, thanks for sharing that!

   That's the same thing as a canker sore, right?
   
   When I was younger, I used to get them a lot, and my mother had me gargle with hydrogen peroxide and then rinse. I remember it took care of them really quickly.
   
   I also remember a doctor chastising my mother for letting me gargle with hydrogen peroxide, so maybe that's not the best idea...

      My brother is a dentist and he used to make a Listerine and  hydrogen peroxide mouthwash! I've been using it for years and never get cavities or mouth ulcers (unless I eat too much citrus).

   I used to suffer with the same problem, until a friend told me to try lysine tablets at the first sign of a tingle.  Miraculously, that will actually stop them from forming and help them to heal.  You can get lysine (which is an amino acid) from a health food store - take two tablets in the morning and two at night.  Lysine helps to heal soft tissues, like gums, and in used to help patients with ulcers.  Also, try switching to a natural toothpaste that doesn't contain lauryl sulfate, which dries out your mouth and makes it easier for canker sores to form.  I truly hope this helps.

      If you are also having gastric problems, mouth sores can be one sign of Crohns disease. If you have this though, you'll know your having other problems.

      Oh, gotcha.  I do get them occasionally and they HURT!  What does Iglu do, does it help?  My kids get them a lot from all the oranges they love...

         Iglu comes in a tube and you rub it on and it covers it like a plaster and stays there healing it...much better than the other waste of time creams

               Its like a plain taste, its a bit rubbery but stops any rubbing, so the ulcer no longer hurts and its gets healed at the same time.

            My son swears by putting raisins on them. He claims it draws out the infection and then they heal.
