Things have changed in the forums in the last two years. Most of the good hubbers have left or no longer post much in the forums. I feel sorry for the newbies. They don't have the resource once here.

I'm not complaining. All I'm saying is I miss some of the good people that haunted the site.

So there is my lament. The forums (IMHO) are not what they once were.

You are indeed correct, Keith!  The censorship by the mods has killed the once great discussions we had on the forums.  If their purpose was to destroy the former great forums this site was known for, then they succeeded in fine fashion.  Dullsville!!!sad

I agree.  Of course, it's natural to miss old friends - but more to the point, I miss the expertise.

A perfect example is the current problem with a site that's stealing Hubs.  In the "old days", most people would have known what to do.  Today, there are countless posts saying "what do I do, what do I do?" - so many, that they're not reading the few posts by Hubbers who know what to do, and the panic just goes on and on.

I can't speak for others, but I assume most people are like me in that we generally give more weight to advice from people that have been here longer.  Marisa, Habee, Keith Tax, Randy Godwin, Pcunix, Greekgeek, Relache, and others.

When I see advice, or even rants, from people that have been here a long time, I pay attention to it.  I might not understand it when I initially read it, but usually somewhere down the line something will click, and I'll have the initial experienced hubber's advice make sense to me.

When I first came here, I was skeptical of taking advice from anyone on this site.  It just seemed a better idea to go outside the site for advice, initially.  I've learned that 99% of the advice from hubbers that have been here two years or more is sound and helpful advice.

Us newer people might not express our gratitude, but we're paying attention to what you're saying.  I doubt I'm the only one. wink

Understandable, but I have to say I'm not entirely comfortable being regarded as a HubPages "expert".  Compared to some of the Hubbers who were here pre-Panda, I'm a novice!

At least you got some King James' English in there.  I was alarmed for a moment there that there'd be no religiosity on this thread.  Good one.

To bad there is only useless losers like us left here sucking the life out of newbies.

Not that this is in any way a complaint. Not even sure how it could be taken that way.

Keep changing your avatar to a younger photo as you get older as most women here do!  lol

Hahah, that reminds me... my photo was taken when I was 16... hmm... two years old-- is that old enough to warrant an update?

Yep, my snake photo is older too.  I'll try to get a more recent pic soon.  But no one really knows if a hubber is even using their own photos anyway, so no big deal.  I just didn't want others to think my snake looked too elderly.  smile

I'm too tired to answer Extreme Hub Makeover threads anymore. Especially when they often expect you to read forty hubs and don't even offer a cookie.

On the plus side, Marisa Wright is still around. She helped me a lot when I started.

Yep, you load 16 tons and what do you get?  lol  Yep, Marisa and I were writing at another site before coming to this one, and she has helped many others here, including myself.  The forums now officially suck.  sigh!

I miss the people who were here during the first two years of the site, the folks who were part of the first ten thousand to use the site.  That's a sparse group by now.  People are either gone, or have gone underground (writing anonymously on new accounts).

It's a challenge to keep any website interesting for more than a year or two.  What is it now?  Six years?  Not too shabby.

I think even with veterans answering questions, sometimes the advice is speculative in this new Google Panda world. Writing online has changed in the last few years, everything changes.
