   Aging is an inevitable thing, but that doesn’t mean the process has to be unpleasant. There are, in fact, a litany of things one can do to stay healthy, feel young, and age gracefully. What advice can you share on this front?

      It sounds simplistic to say, Number One is 'stay in control of your own life'. But to me, that's the objective of any and all efforts you make to maintain good health as you age.
      
      I won't be writing a new hub for this theme, but I'd like to post a link to one I wrote a while ago in tribute to my father's approach to the challenge.
      
      It describes a spiritual and physical recharge that Dad accomplished in his own way, in his sixties, and in the face of dire predictions from his doctor. It's about self-belief, coupled with a belief in the healing power of nature. And taking action to maintain that control of your own life.
      
      It will never win any Hub prizes, nor big readership, because it's not specific to any particular product / process / procedure. It's just called "What I Learned About Trees and Life From My Dad"
      
      But I believe it would stand up to being re-titled "How  to Stay Healthy, Feel Young, and Age Gracefully. One Man's Story"

      Absolutely love it! Now I can say I've suffered from transient insomnia at times, which is far more fun to refer to than... "Well, I have trouble sleeping for a while every time I end up in a different place."

      This is exceedingly useful! I didn't know much of anything about kidney stones before reading this. Now I know to drink lots of water and cut back on salt and meat! Heh... the meat thing won't be a problem since I'm a vegetarian. Yay!

      What an inspiring example! Martial Arts would have been one of the last things I would have expected to come up this week, but you've presented a very compelling argument as to why it can be an excellent option for aging individuals! Awesome Hub.

   I didn't follow the formal process at the answer section. I didn't know this weeks topic until almost finishing a hub. However, I do have some advice to offer; Read Patty's Hub, read Shanna11's hub, (that is all I've read thus far), and I am curious about the Invisible Hearing Aids. The joint pains are high on my list. I think reading all of them will provide a wealth of information.
   
   Things I've notice about aging gracefully,
   
   I turn the heater on when I'm cold
   
   The young un's who use to call me OG=old guy are grandpas now (I had grey hair early)
   
   For Shanna, I at times am afraid to fall asleep so, no restless leg syndrome
   
   I hear sir more now than when I was on a military base
   
   I get senior discounts, and I'm not old enough
   
   I use to get asked by my dates what I did for a living, today they ask if I have retirement
   
   I use to wonder what I would do when I grew up, now I wonder about my nephews and nieces
   
   I use to get asked on campus what class am I taking, now I get asked what class do I teach
   
   When I talk about this or that happening at work, a common reply is I wasn't even born yet
   
   If I say I like Muddy Waters, I hear where is that?
   
   Little ones use to look up at me, now I'm looking up at them
   
   When I go to haven't seen in a long while get-togethers, a pretty gal walks by, I look, the old time friend next to me says, have you said hello to my daughter such and such, I think OMG I'm a pervert
   
   I use to keep aspirin in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, now they're in the kitchen cupboard and I can't find 'em betwixt all the bottles of meds
   
   My doc use to always check the clipboard & call me Mr. Mitchell, now they 'all' call me Tim
   
   And, the best for last, oh, darn, I don't remember . . .

    Now that you have all had a laugh over invisible hearing aids!!
    
    They are actually aids that you wear in the ear canal, which means that you can't see them. I wear the huge ones that fill the whole ear so my hair is designed to make them invisible!!
    
    Luckily I can laugh at it too-

    A hip joint injury forced me into early retirement, but I haven't suffered any pain in my left hip since.  Besides being stubborn and determined, here are the steps I took so that I don't have to take any drugs or see any doctors/specialists.

    At last! Something I know quite a lot about
    
    I started to write "How to get free hearing aids", but age and senility are obviously  catching up with me, so it didnt quite come out like that.
    It's a hub about free hearing aids in the Uk- what you can and can't get- hopefully it will be of interest to all those who are encountering the use of hearing aids for the first time, whether in the Uk or abroad as it contains details of some of the varying types of aids.
