I know there are crazy and extreme diets out there... Just watching a segment on TV about the feeding tube diet where people get a feeding tube put in place for ten days...To lose weight. Weird

Seems people will do anything if they are promised to lose weight!  Wonder why they just don't stop eating so much????

I actually saw a segment on that as well. It is really disturbing, if people want to lose weight then they need to put in the effort. I know it cannot be healthy and those people that use it will more than likely gain the weight back anyway. The best way to lose weight is the old fashion workout and eat right. It is not rocket science.

Lol. Yes stop eating so much...That is an easy anwser Mary. I do realize it's hard though.
I have gained 20lbs in the last year and find it very difficult to lose any weight.

This diet has been around for a while now but they gain the weight back quickly and it is weird having a tube put down your throat. I think it's been in the news a lot over the past year in relation to bride's trying to fit into a dress. It's funny how the articles and news segments never mention how fast that weight and then some comes back once the feeding tube diet is stopped. If I need to lose weight, it'll be through diet and exercise.

You're spot on with your last comment - if there's a secret to achieving your ideal weight it's this: There is no secret. People make themselves thoroughly miserable trying to find a short term short cut which isn't there and isn't necessary. It's really easy to systematically remove the saturated fat from your diet (without calorie counting I might add) and add in some regular walking to get the results you want - but everyone wants a quick fix and would rather spend years riding the diet roller coaster than, 3 months fixing the problem forever.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of people craving so much for food meanwhile they gain so much weight when they realize this fact, they  would do anything they could in order to get the easiest way to get rid of this without considering that the only true is that you need to earn the food that you eat which only happens with a healthy balance diet and a good exercise regime.

Agree with you Express 10 :-).

It is an extremely unhealthy practice, as the doctor who places these (for a rather high fee) basically does continuous feeds with a pump, on very low calorie levels. The feeding tube community is quite outraged by this practice, as there are those who would literally give their right arm to be able to eat normally. My four year old has a feeding tube for medical reasons, and I find this practice very unsavory. There are healthier ways to lose weight, and this method is not a good long-term weight loss solution.

I can imagine what the poor in other countries think, who don't have enough to eat on a daily basis. When they see people in this country using feeding tubes to diet

I think it's sad. Loosing weight healthy is the only way, even though it's hard. The results and happiness will be greater, than if they choose a crash-diet.
