My author score is dropping like a rock!

   I know, I know.....we shouldn't worry about the author score but:  I was up to 97 until I published two Hubs back to back.  Then it dropped to 93 within two days.  I'm afraid if I publish another one, it will drop even further.  The score does seem to drop after a new publish. 
   Any thoughts????

      It doesn't always have to do with publishing or not publishing. Mine fluctuates regardless of activity. The month of May was super busy for me, my daughter graduated as well as several family members and friends kids, gardening and other obligations.
      
      Advertise and go back and edit any low scoring articles you could improve on. As long as you are still getting views and making money I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some people here that are only a 92 are making more money than some of us in the mid range so that doesn't have to do with income.

      Yes, a 4 point fall is hardly something to worry about - and the reason is obvious.  You've just published two new Hubs, which naturally have low scores. Since your author score is influenced by the average of all your HubScores, it's bound to go down if you publish a lot of new Hubs.  It will rise again as the scores on those two Hubs rise.

   Mine used to be between 90-96, but it seems as of late, I would be lucky to see 90. It was at 90 yesterday, but has been as low as 85 recently.

   Mine goes back and forth between 90 and 100. I noticed if I hub-hop it goes up, so when it gets 'low' I hub hop and bring it back up. I know it doesn't matter, I just like seeing that 100 on there!

   I totally ignore that score and my accolades because having them doesn't mean a thing.  Even with scores ranging from 88-94 here, I am still making money.  Why waste your time worrying about getting a 100 score that is totally meaningless?  I would not mention my scores here if I was pitching one of my articles to an editor.  Do you think it would matter?  Not!

   It seems to me that hub-hopping,forum posts and answering questions have more influence than publishing hubs. If I don't do any of those things, my score will drop, but also if I do them all day it will drop. One thing that is guaranteed to make it go down is following a bunch of people at once. I know it doesn't matter, more of a distraction than anything, but still I nurture it.

      I love having a high score.  Maybe I'm too egotistical.  I feel like it's like an "atta boy, good job" kind of thing.  It's kind of like getting a good report card when I was in school!

   I have noticed this as well and also am a little confused by the scores of the hubs themselves. I just published a 1500+ word hub on a topic that there didn't seem to be any other hubs on, all my own work so isn't anywhere else online, with photos and relevant links but it's score is only 46. I have published shorter hubs without pictures and links so less content that had higher scores.

   What you are seeing is the natural ebb and flow of a score, it's not dropping like a rock.

      Right relache, there are so many variables that seem to trigger the score up and down one can do better things than worrying about it too much. Besides, after you've been here awhile and gotten to know other writers well- and unless theres been a drastic change in 'em, they're hardly noticed, or at least the scores don't change our regard for a writer when reading their stories- and that probably goes for most of us.
