Using my own video in a Hub ... too promotional?

    Hi Hubbers,

I'm just writing my first Hub (on productivity) and realized that I could illustrate the concepts really well with a video.

I'd like to post the video on YouTube (and grab the embed code for the Hub Page from there).

And in the video, I'd like to mention the name of my website at the start ... and show the URL at the end.

Would that be considered too promotional for a Hub Page?

    Thanks!

    Sheila

No, You're aloud to link to an outside site once per hub. So this shouldn't be a problem.

It should be fine.  Good luck.

Thanks for the guidance, SweetiePie and College!

A follow-up question that has occurred to me, based on C.P.'s reply ...

If I'm showing my own website URL in the video, it would NOT be appropriate to link to that website anywhere within the text of the hub.

    Have I got that right?

    Cheers,

    Sheila

That would be my advice just to be on the safe side. However, I don't think it would technically violate the rules to put the url in the video and a link in your hub... you'd have to ask a hubpages staff member.

I think it would depend whether you were linking to a range of reference sites, or just one.

I don't think hubpages can "see" a URL  in a YouTube video anyway big_smile

    Many thanks, guys.

I want to make sure to be wearing a White Hat with my first hub.

It would have gone completely unnoticed if you hadn't mentioned it wink
