As our Cookbook Contest winds down, I have noticed that there aren’t so many budget-friendly entries- that is, recipes that are specifically designed to be budget-friendly and explain how they can save people money. This means that category of the contest is less competitive, and THAT, my friends, is an opportunity.

Budget-conscious recipes in general do quite well, so even if you don’t feel like participating in the contest, you have much to gain from joining in on this week’s Weekly Topic Inspiration challenge.

I’ve done some of the legwork for you and found some search-friendly titles you can use*:
    Budget-Friendly Meals
    Easy Cheap Recipes
    Cheap and Easy Meals
    Easy Cheap Meals
    Cheap Healthy Meals
    Cheap Meal Recipes
    Cheap Family Meals
    Healthy Cheap Recipes
    Cheap Meal Ideas
    Cheap Desserts

*Keep in mind that our judges are looking for search-friendly titles, so if you’re entering your Hub in the contest, these can give you a leg up!

If you would like to enter your budget-conscious recipe Hub in our Cookbook Contest in addition to WTI, be sure to visit our official contest page and review the rules and entry requirements. Also know that to qualify, entries must be AT LEAST 500 WORDS LONG and all images must be either original or legally used and properly attributed.

If you'd like to join in on this week's topic by writing a Hub, follow these steps:

    1)    Stop by this week's Weekly Topic Inspiration Question.
    2)    Click the green button "answer this question".
    3)    Click the gray button below the box (leave that empty) that says "make a Hub about it."
    4)    Give your Hub a very specific title, like Easy Summer Gardening Projects for Kids or Challenging Summer Activities for Teens
    5)    Create good quality original content that hasn't been covered before.
    6)    After you publish your Weekly Topic Inspiration Hub, come back to this forum thread and post a link to your Hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.

For more information on the Weekly Topic Inspiration program, check out the Learning Center guide.

As it turns out, my latest recipe hub is very budget-friendly and very delicious! How does $2.50 per gourmet pizza sound?

A brand new air-conditioner, new insulation, and big pitchers of lavender lemonade will see me and my family through 115-degree summer days.  What more can a girl want???

Sounds like a good summer plan - maybe you should just build a pool to go with that lemonade, air conditioner and insulation smile

So Gordon - I'm guessing you don't have Gorton's frozen fish in Scotland (and even if you did, why would you eat it???), but every time I see your name, avatar and fish recipes I think of the Gorton's fisherman logo/jingle.

Anyway, I always find myself reading through your fish recipes even though I don't eat fish smile I enjoy the authenticity of your hubs and recipes.

Wow - thanks very much for this, ktrapp. You're right - we don't have this over here and I've never heard of them but I suppose it's fairly apt for me! smile I'm going to have to share this with my fishing friends - being careful to emphasise of course that I haven't been around since 1849!

LOL!  What I should have done all along, k, was save money eating your gourmet pizza with loads of homegrown basil and tomatoes!  I would have saved loads of money so I could have at least paid for the air conditioner in cold, hard cash.  OUCH, OUCH, OUCH!

I love smoothies and find them a great way to enjoy a healthy treat. I have discovered a way to make a smoothie for approx 30 pence a day / per person, which I share in this hub. Enjoy!
