Yearbooks are a great memory keeper

   So, as a yearbook adviser, I feel that yearbooks are a great memory keeper and something everyone should invest in.  Of course I am bias as I spend a year working with students to create the yearbook.  However, the end result give you a product that lasts many years after the fact.
   
   Here's my questions to you...
   
   Do you have your middle school yearbook?
   
   Do you have your high school yearbooks?  All four years?
   
   Do you have yearbooks from elementary or intermediate school?
   
   When's the last time you looked through a yearbook?
   
   What is your favorite thing about yearbooks? What is your least favorite?

      Well I no longer have my old year books, wish I did. My favorite part of the book was at the end of the year when everybody signs them,...LOL. Can't really say what I did'nt like about them,..perhaps the price may have been to high.

         Pricing can be an issue.  It is hard to weigh the value of a yearbook.  Some people will get them no matter what, while others will struggle with the cost.  Our yearbook is 100% color and that does raise the price up a bit.  However, the book looks amazing and we have won several awards over the years since we have gone all color.  So, as long as there is a market for the books I'm doing good...lol.

   None at all. I had a terrible time in school. At my high school kids like me never figured in the yearbook, only the "cool" kids and the jocks got their pictures taken. so there was no point in holding onto them.

      I am sorry that your experience was so negative with yearbooks.  I too felt that often only the "popular" kids were featured in the yearbooks when I grew up.  As an adivser, I strive for all kids to be represented in the book.  We try to have everyone in there at least twice.  It is hard with 1000 kids in two grades, but we have done pretty good.  Each year I set the bar higher...quality is the best.  I don't care if "joe athlete" is in every sport, sometimes it's the quiet writer in the corner that needs their moment to shine.

   Lost my yearbook when Katrina came through the Gulf Coast a few years back. My sister was storing them for me near Biloxi, MS. I only had my senior yearbook.
   
   Last time I seen my class yearbook was in 2006 at my 20 year reunion.  75% of everyone had changed beyond recognition to me, but we managed.
   
   Favorite thing about it was the signatures and wishes for a good future from certain close friends.  Least favorite thing was the constant reminder of some of my past mistakes.

      Thank you for your response.  I appreciate you taking the time.  Try checking with your old high school to see if they still have yearbooks available.  I was able to get all of mine from high school a few years ago (almost 20 years after graduating).  I hope that you have been able to recover from Katrina and I wish you well.

         Thank you but I wasn't in the storm, my sister and her family were.  I went there 2 days after it hit with a pickup truck full of supplies.
         
         My fiance has hers (same book) and I could never replace the original.  The hand written messsages inside were important to me not the pictures.
