Hi, all :-) I know several of us are interested in social  bookmarking, and there are a few threads scattered through the forums with social bookmarking info in them. Let's streamline the process. Anyone who wants to make friends on social bookmarking sites with other hubbers, please post your info here so we  can all find each other. I'll start.

    Digg

    StumbleUpon

    Reddit

Mahalo  (Note and disclaimer: I'm new on here, so there's not a  lot on my profile yet. But since I now officially work for Mahalo, this profile will start getting a lot more action smile )

    Colleen,

What do you do with Mahalo? I looked at it, but was not able to figure out how I can use it to my advantage...

I'm signed up with Digg and Stumbleupon and ezinearticles, but can you really sign up with all these sites and keep up with them all? Sounds like more than a full-time job to me.

      Ahaha tell me about it!!
I like the word "part time" as opposed to "full time" when it comes to work but these Social netorking sites are all well worth joining, which i am always and am in the process of doing!

Thanks for all these links guys n gals;)

It is definitely a full time job here. I've been doing research and gathering info for the past few months and I still haven't finish yet, although I do some bookmarking every now and then.

I agree, I just take my time doing these things and submit when I have time.  Also, since digg does not like too many things being submitted from one domain I submit a variety of things and stretch it out.  I have not tried enzine articles yet, but I really like Squidoo so far.

The deal with Mahalo is that their whole purpose is  building a people-powered search engine. Part of that mission is what they call "Mahalo Social" which is where you'd be submitting your links. You bookmark pages just as you would with any other bookmarking service, where they can be seen and bookmarked by your friends, but there's the added advantage that when you add them, you can recommend them for one of Mahalo's search results pages, which means that (if it is accepted by the editor of that category) anyone who uses Mahalo for search will see your recommended page in the search results. The easiest way to submit pages is to install and use the Mahalo Follow toolbar.

For more about Mahalo Social, you can visit this page: http://www.mahalo.com/How_to_Use_Mahalo_Social

HubPages may have just been blocked by del.icio.us so don't get too excited about that site just now.

Yeah, I saw that. I haven't used my del.icio.us account in a long time. I use StumbleUpon for  most stuff.  But it's another good reminder that we shouldn't overdo it on any of these sites and make sure that we are only submitting quality hubs as well as making sure we bookmark lots of other good, useful content, too.

Hmmm, hubpages may be blocked by reddit as well. I submitted a link yesterday but it does not show up in any of the searches. Also when I do a search for hubpages on reddit, the most recent submits are from 3 months ago.

It is also unclear to me that adding your page to a social bookmarking site actually helps with traffic. Search engines and the bookmarking sites themselves are taking these promotion strategies into account so simply adding your own links may end up hurting you. Some possible consequences people have talked about include:
      1. getting a low profile score on the bookmarking sites.
      2. getting banned from the bookmarking sites.
      3. getting dereferenced on search engines.

Unless you enjoy participating in the social bookmarking community (and only use it very occasionally to submit your own links), it seems that this strategy of promotion does not work out very well.

Soon you'll be able to use www.tagfoot.com!

Check it out, there's a video on there that shows you how it can be used.

You can sign up to be notified as to when the site launches publicly.

Or you can find out more about it here where you'll find a special invitation link to sign up while its still in private beta. wink

I agree with William that social bookmarking could become a full-time job if you kept up with all of them.

I only have so much time, so I'd be interested to know: for those serious internet marketers out there (I'm talking to you, Misha!), which do you find most productive - posting links on social bookmarking/networking sites, or posting on blogs and forums on your subject?
