Florida still counting votes

   The state still hasn't called the election for either President Obama or Gov. Mitt Romney.
   
   MIAMI -- It was all over but the shouting in Florida on Wednesday, where the presidential race between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney was still too close to call.
   
   More than 24 hours after polls closed in Florida, election officials said votes were still being counted in a handful of counties and final results may not be known before the weekend.
   
   "Every county must report their unofficial results to us by Saturday at noon," said Chris Cate, a spokesman for Florida's Secretary of State, who is responsible for elections.

   Should they just stop counting? It won't make a difference in the outcome. The electoral college has made voting for some states a waste of time. I think Alaska was still voting when the election results were reported

      While the popular vote is of no consequence, people still need a final number for the sake of record keeping, and probably to maintain the illusion among some that their presidential vote does make a difference.

   We don't count so good in Florida. The school system is remedial. Guess why Gov. Rick Scott cut a billion dollars out of the budget for education. He wants us to be ignorant enough to vote for him again.

            We have more longhorns and working cowboys than you do up north in Texas. That reminds me.
            
            There was a Florida cracker, a Texan and a New Yorker sitting at the bar in the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp during the middle of the day. The Texan bought everyone a round of Bourbon. He downed his and threw his glass against the wall, “In Texas, we have so much oil that we never drink from the same glass twice.”
            
            The New Yorker ordered a bottle of Crown Royal and poured everyone drink. He threw the bottle against the wall, “In New York, we have so much money, we never drink from the same bottle twice.”
            
            The Florida cracker ordered a round of beers. When they were finished, he took out a 357 pistol and shot the New Yorker. He turned to the stunned Texan and said, “In Florida, we have so many New Yorkers, we never drink with the same one twice.

   I've heard a lot about those extra long ballots they have down there, their must be a lot of local issues that the vote count will be important for. Besides, if all those people stood in line for 8 hours to vote, they deserve to have the vote counted.
