   Syrian fighter jets fired rockets at the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in the capital Damascus on Sunday, killing at least 25 people who had sought shelter in a mosque from clashes in other parts of the city.
   
   Syria is home to more that 500,000 Palestinian refugees, most living in Yarmouk, and both Assad's government and the mainly Sunni Muslim Syrian rebels have enlisted and armed Palestinians as the uprising has mushroomed into a civil war. Opposition activists said the deaths in Yarmouk, to which refugees have fled from other fighting in nearby suburbs, resulted from a rocket fired by a warplane hitting the mosque.
   
   Forty thousand Syrians have now been killed in what has become the most protracted and devastating of the Arab popular uprisings that have toppled several dictators since early 2011.
   
   Desperate food shortages are growing in parts of Syria and residents of Aleppo say fistfights and dashes across the civil war front lines have become part of the daily struggle to secure a loaf of bread.
   
   Damascus has accused Western powers of backing what it says is a Sunni Islamist terrorist campaign to topple Assad, a member of the minority Alawite sect affiliated with Shiite Islam. It says that U.S. and European concerns about Assads forces possibly resorting to chemical weapons could serve as a pretext for preparing military intervention.
   
   But, unlike NATOs air campaign in support of Libyas successful revolt last year against Muammar Gaddafi, Western powers have been wary of intervening in Syria. They have been deterred by the ethnic and religious complexity of a major Arab state at the strategic heart of the Middle East - but have also lacked U.N. consensus due to Russian support for Assad.
   
   No condemnation. Nothing. Bet if Israel was involved everyone and anyone would have what to say.

      Syria has no oil. Libya does. The fall of Mubarak brought a new regime that is Islamic, Saudi Arabia is one of the worst dictatorships living in the very dark ages , but they have oil and lots of it, so the ruling family must stay as long as they do US bidding. Iran is problematic and poses a threat to the entire gulf = oil supply as well as to Europe with it's ballistic missiles (Europeans do not want to see this). Lebanon is controlled in part by Hozbollah supported by Iran and Syria. The Palestinians - a group of people who only after the becomming of the State of Israel suddenly became an entity. And in the middle of this Israel, the only true democracy who is stable, free and developed. Israel is the excuse for Arab unity, whatever that is, the excuse for blind Europe when they do not want to address their problems with the growing Muslim populations and immigration. Israel, a great punching bag when all need an excuse to show how righteous they are instead of condemning those that have in their manifests - wipe out Israel and while doing so . kill the population as well.
      Your words are correct and show this crazy part of the world. Great reading.

         So true as the only thing that unites  Arabs is their opposition to Jewish nationalism and a desire to stamp it out – there are not aspirations for them to see the Pals to have their own state. Murdering Jews is a collective Arab effort that requires a collectively sensible response,which unfortunately we never see from the rest of the world.
         
         It is also so sad that we will continue to see ugly images from this part of the world.  Children will die.  They will die horrifically.  Israeli children will die because it pleases Hamas. Fatah or whomever is in charge of the Pals at the moment that keep attacking.  Palestinian children will die because Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters hide amongst civilians.  They do this so that any Israeli defense appears to be disproportionately violent.  Israeli soldiers wear uniforms; terrorists do not.
         
         But as this posting was meant to show that when their fellow Arab brothers to to the Pals, no one cares.

      and the madness continues.
      
      The current efforts of Jordan and Egypt (and all the rest of the Muslim Middle East nations) to give the Pals a state is clearly a ploy to get a foothold inside Israel. Ignore what is going on in Syria. It is all a strategic accommodation to establish a base from which the final assault against Israel can be made.
