HP has asked authors to outline their goals for 2013. What about a response from HP staff? What are HP's targets, what improvements and changes are on the agenda for 2013? How will these be achieved? Many hubbers (submariners) would like to know where the mother ship is heading, how, when and why.
That would be a good idea, except we don't want the other mother ships to also know.
Why? It won't hurt anything to let the squids know we intend to sink them like a leaf in a whirlpool.
They don't need to know that we plan is to sneak in every night and unplug their servers, though, or that we are secretly re-writing the Panda.
Their 2013 goal is to drive off everyone who writes basic vanilla articles on evergreen topics. They will introduce a slideshow capsule and writers will be encouraged to focus on celebrity nip slips, bollywood actresses, and top ten uses for depends undergarments. As advised during their "talks with Google" HP staff will unpublish every article that receives less than 500 visits per day. Finally, ads will be introduced into the forum and our earnings will come from posting in the religious/political diatribe subforum.
I thought that is what we were already doing here in 2012. Someone fill me in. Should I delete all my nip slip hubs and save them for next year?
That's the goal? I thought all that was happening now. Love the idea of HP cashing in on religious/political forum posts. A great new revenue opp.
There's a difference between what a company will communicate internally and externally. The company's goals for 2013 are very much an internal affair, except how it chooses to promote itself out-house (as opposed to in-house).
I know you get this, tussin...but I guess I'll spell it out, too. What goes on in a company about goal-setting, strategy, internal processes, and finances belongs to the company. Far as I know, Hubbers are not share holders here, in the corporate sense, and so are not privy to the internal workings of the company.
But if they did that and then had to change their plans it would result in forum postings full of complaints and negative comments. How can anyone have set online plans for 2013 when things alter so rapidly?
The irony is that this is exactly what HP is asking hubbers to do in the blogs (make plans, calendars, set goals). To not make a plan because you may have to change it is simply a cop out!
They probably have a very detailed plan and strategy - however I don't think you'll find any corporation publishing a plan that could potential tip of competitors - especially in a competitive industry like Hubpages is in.
There have already been a number of hints such as:
=> expand AP
=> provide feedback on how individual hubs can be improved
=> speed up pending
none of which relate to competition (potential tip of competitors).
These things are useful to know going forward.
Funny timing. About to walk into a meeting to discuss exactly that. Personally one of my goals is figuring out is how to better involve Hubbers in the process of figuring out and setting our goals. I agree that there are certainly things about our goals that we can and should share. You can probably get an inkling of it from Paul's Hub today. http://pauledmondson.hubpages.com/hub/T … ch-Engines
Informally, please feel free to offer your own thoughts on what our goals for next year should be.
Thanks for that.
I have already outlined my suggestions:

I respect the work of many hubbers, but at the very top of my list is 'peeples'. I am a great fan of this extraordinary woman and when you go to her profile page you will see why. Peeples is now homeless. Follow this link to her story. http://peeples.hubpages.com/hub/A-Real- … melessness and...

This issue has been raised many times in the past – but given the 20% drop in traffic it should be rectified urgently (good enough is no longer sufficient (IMO)Links to unrelated pages is something that Panda and Penguin have hit sites for. If an author puts an unrelated link on their page they get...

It would be interesting to be able to see the Hub Hop ratings on my hubs - this will help me understand what areas I need to work on and which areas I am doing well on....

Hi, Team - We know you can't file DMCA complaints on behalf of our work, but would it be possible to alert Hubbers when major scrapers are found in various categories, so we can all individually check for our content?For example - there were probably many more Hubbers affected by the 'Dan Gordon'...

There seem to be many hubbers who have no published hubs and are still allowed to comment on other people's writing. While there are some hubbers who are simply new and asking questions before diving in, it seems that some people open accounts purely for the purposes of making comments, often nasty...

I was hub hopping and had to flag a few hubs for being substandard (word count). One hub had exactly 10 words and 2 photos. There should be a way the system prevents you from publishing a hub like that except if it's in the poetry section.
