Hi all
I'm new to Hubpages and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for a first hub? I'm interested in arts and crafts, film criticism, and book reviews - do these types of hubs get much traffic?
Any ideas will be very much appreciated
Hope to speak with some of you soon
I don't know since I write about controversial subject such as Nibiru Planet X and the Polar Shift but would suspect that they do alright.
I have written a few book reviews and do my own art for my hubs since I work as a graphic artist during the day. I have shared some of my digital artwork on my Hubs and are now showing up on Google Images.
Welcome to the Hub Pages community, a great group of writers and artists sharing their experience, strength and hope with the world.
Hi. Welcome to hub pages. You are free here to write on almost any topic you want. So get busy and write a hub on anything that you would like to share with other people here on Hub Pages.
Read through the learning center it is full of good tips and advice on selecting a niche. Also read through the FAQ's. Overall stick to guidlines and read through peoples hubs on what you can right about. As you make your way through these materials you will find that there is a formula for success here. So get busy, learn, right, and develop yourself as you go. good luck from safiq.
I am new to this too, so I am confused to how it all works. However I am sure it can not that be that challenging. I just need to learn how the forum works. Also I am confused to how my page is suppose to be formatted, so I am looking over others pages to see what it is suppose to look like, as well as be published. Good luck to you and me! =0)
Welcome to one of the weirdest places on the web. EVERYONE has an opinion on here, so don't worry about what to write because in the end, you can't please them all. If you can write a coherent article, and sound a tad bit smart, you will be okay. Making money takes time, but you might get lucky if you catch enough attention. My advice is start following people on here and make yourself known to the O.G.s if you want to be successful.
Welcome to HP Steph. From your interests here are a couple of my suggestions. 1. A book review of a popular book. 2. a film review of a popular movie. I did a hub review of Lincoln recently and got a ton of traffic. Also, read the Learning Center tips on writing hubs. It is excellent. Use photos and videos.
Handcrafted things are big now, even with furniture and gifts. Book reviews, I did a couple elsewhere and did okay with them.
Hi, welcome to Hubpages, reviews are always very useful to others, I am wondering whether film reviews could be a good one to start with? Have fun.
It would also really help to think about and publish a good profile page. No one can know about you and suggest things, or even become interested, if you do not include facts in your profiles. Bounce around and look at the profile pages for some of the successful writers to get a better idea.
Hi, Welcome to HP. There seem to be lots of arts and craft hubs, so they must be very popular. But since there are so many, maybe find your own angle, such as arts and crafts for house bound seniors or arts and crafts for preschoolers, or arts and crafts with all recycled materials. I'm sure you can think of many more interesting angles. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for all your responses so far - I really appreciate it
I would go out on a limb and say that a recipe hub would be a good one to start with as it seems that many people are looking for these as well. I'm sure there are many people on here who would be willing to help you. Tammyswallow is one of these people. She has some great hubs on how to pick topics. I hope that helps.
To be honest, recipe and craft hubs don't generate much revenue or traffic, usually. You should probably steer clear from those along with poetry or stories if you want to make money on hubpages - the more traffic you get, the more money you'll make.
Try to write about stuff people are searching for. You can use something like the Google adword tool to search for keywords.
You'll probably want to find niche topics to write about. For example "The Best Korean BB Creams"- a hub I have - is starting to generate traffic because it is a niche topic.
If you like something, you should probably write about that --- or about something that interests you.
If you just want to write and don't care about money - well, no need to think about what to write! Just write whatever is on your mind.
Good luck!
Welcome! I'm new here, too, and for the first week I was really having a hard time trying to come up with something to write about. Look around you, your life, your day-to-day experiences and select one thing to write about. Before you know it, you'll be getting ideas everywhere you turn. I write down my ideas as they come and as I have the time, I'm writing about them. I think I have about a dozen of hubs started, and hopefully will get a bunch finished in the next few days. My ideas seem to come in spurts, but if you make a note on a piece of paper, you'll have it to reference. Not all ideas will make you money, but they'll get you started on writing which can then lead to how to write more for the money ideas. Hope this helps!
Write about whatever interests you. Some people have a niche. I however write about whatever pops into my head.
Think you just have to write about what you know! What you're interested in, and write from the heart! You should do find with any of those topics you've listed!
I would just talk about whatever is relevant at this moment in time. Articles that are relevant will automatically receive more traffic than a classic from yester-year. Although it may not be as "evergreen" . Enjoy your time on Hubpages
Well I took the advice of some of you and just wrote about what felt natural and was genuinely interesting to me. Yaaay, I just published my first hub
I'm not entirely sure whether it's a niche topic (makeup for clubbers and ravers??) what do you guys think?
Thanks for all your responses anyway xx
Probably a decent niche topic albeit a smaller one. I thought it was a good start for you. If you're the type to take constructive criticism well, then you're going to make it far on here. I myself am still new to Hubpages but I'm learning every little thing I can to get going. I'm an experienced songwriter and I also write short stories. Now I'm trying my hand at writing articles. I definitely have a bit of growing to do. Don't give up and stick with it.
According to some hubs I have read by the the hubber thephoenixlives, you should continue to write and publish about 20 hubs on the rave topic, and then link them together. It will give the articles higher placement in the search engines, and someone that searches your hub, and finds many others about similar topics, will be more likely to keep reading.
I would recommend writing whatever you feel comfortable writing about. If you know what your writing about it is much easier, and more interesting, to write. Anything that you know a lot about is generally a good idea (unless it's something against the guidelines.) If you are doing this for money, try sticking to more popular ideas, such as the ones that have already been listed by others. If you are doing this for fun, post what you want to post about; if it's poetry or novels, or something more like painting or graphic arts, do what you love. This is a great place to get feedback or learn a few facts about... almost anything you can think of, really. I hope you enjoy HubPages, good luck.
hi...I m also new to hubpages and searching for the ideas to make the hub more meaningful and interesting...same here..gud luck..

I like to check Hubpages on breaks at work. Now, I can't access my Hub feed because a Hubber chose to write a Hub about drugs, and Hubpages hasn't caught onto it yet. My organization is pretty fair on what it blocks/allows. Usually blocks things about gun violence, cults, and drugs. They also only...
