My traffic woes!

   Here's my problem, it's stagnant!
   
   I find that when a hub takes off the better performing ones fall back. My traffic has had the same average views for months even though a few of my hubs have finally gone wild.
   
   It's not like my entire account is suffering. Whenever there is a Penguin strike, everything usually is affected for a few hours then it gets back to normal. This is not the case here. Each time a hub improves the best performer suffers. My best performer dropped by over 50% during the last couple of days while two others have improved by about 50%.
   
   It seems like something is saying don't give her more than xy views per day......jeez. I know it's crazy but that's the way it seems to me.

      If a hub starts to pick up traffic another, previously well-performing hub, drops off - it's almost like Google has set a cap on my traffic (I know that's not the case, but it's how it feels).  Even worse, the imaginary cap is lowering - traffic is gradually sliding away (I'm following it )

      For the past week my views have plummeted.  My sub-domain is dying without any doubt.  This is the most drastic "kill" I have witnessed so far.  I will not spend any time tweaking them or anything.  It is becoming a waste of time for sure.  My views are down OVER 50 percent.
      
      Things will be going along just fine and then bam!.....you have to wait months for views to build back up.  Not sure what is causing it, but I am beyond trying attempting to "repair" and "tweak" well written hubs.
      
      Right now the majority of my hubs have 0 or 1 view, a few higher.  Two hubs that have great views all the time are well under "normal", so they have been attacked as well.  I have not ever seen my stats look this pitiful.  My first hubs did better when I first started here.  it is like a boycott of my pages from Google.  I am getting much better views on my blog.

         My blog gets more daily views than my Hubpages as well and I haven't posted have the amount of stuff over there.

            I don't have the amount of content on the blog that I have here, however, all of my idled hubs reside there now and some new material that is unique.  I hope that the blog continues to grow as time goes by in both articles and search engine results.   I have Google ads running there as well.

      I believe it.  It seems like the more hubs I write,  the more spread out the readers are, but the overall traffic does not go up.

   That's exactly what's happened with me too. All traffic dropped off back in Oct (was it?) and has levelled off. Doesn't matter how many hubs I publish, my traffic always stays within a certain boundary, fluctuating only around a hundred or so per day. It goes up a little bit, then drops a little bit.

   So glad to know it's not just me, and I'm not crazy, paranoid, or neurotic about the recent dips in my best performing hub.  After I recently tweaked and improved several hubs, my "meat-n-potato" hub dropped almost 20 points!! I thought it was copied or something. The same has happened to others but not as drastic.
   
   Overall, my traffic is steadily improving but why are the hubscores of the best ones falling all of a sudden? Like Dale says, I'm leary about doing anything right now.
   
   Might it be an algorithym thing over which we have no control? Or is Google that powerful  . . . .  and mean.

   My traffic has always been up and down, like riding a rollercoaster. I've also felt that Google had put a ceiling on my views. Today, though, it's like someone took off the "lid". Anyway, I hope it lasts although I know it can't!

   I know how you guys feel about the "cap." I think if I could churn out 100 great hubs tonight, my traffic would stay the same.

   Jeez...I though I was crazy. This is so frustrating! What can we do to solve this?
   
   The same thing happened with my adsense account. I reached $99.46 in March. Usually my monthly earnings are around $6 give or take a few cents but this month it was like Google deliberately held back because it took nearly a month to make the additional 54 cents to reach the payout.

   I wonder if views have become more a matter of driving traffic than writing interesting articles?
   I know absolutely nothing about how to get traffic nor do I care too,and 90% of my views come from outside HP.I just write what the 'voices in my head' tell me to,and my views are very consistent.
   On the other hand,I've visited HP authors pages where views were very high[per the author in the forums]and found some pretty generic stuff...and a very high author score too.
   I have only one hub[the most recent]that isn't[and probably never will be]featured,and some of my hubs get '0' views most of the time....Ya,I know...that speaks for it's self lol.
   I'm beginning to think Duration is more important than number of views.What good does it do to get millions of views if visitors immediately leave?...other than bring the whole site down a notch.

      Well over the majority of my views come from outside of HP.  Google and Bing with other search engines brings in more than HP.  The only time my HP traffic surges is when I publish a new hub....then those views die off.
