...sure has killed off all the topics except religion and politics.
Just my opinion.
Of course, it has spared Hubbers several new paradigmsearch threads.
I noticed that, too. Nothing but religion, politics, and the other half. The rest is but a fond memory (which I question - was anything else [i]ever]/i] here?).
I tried posting a couple items after the split. They were either never seen or totally ignored. Gave up. I'm now posting most of my discovered, interesting/whimsical news items on my blog instead. In reality, it's the smarter thing for me to do anyway. Ad revenue is ad revenue...
well don't blame me. most of the forum posts i've been opening involve the entertainment sections, so it ain't my fault those forums aren't popular enough for people to get invested in rather than say anything about politics and religion.
in fact, i think the most popular one that i had posted involved me asking people what they thought about having more openly gay characters in animated movies.
I like the new format, too. It keeps temptation out of my way.
I like it too. Much easier to find the topics.
I liked the old format better. But change and I don't usually get a long too well so maybe I just need to warm up to the new look...
What new format.... guess I missed that change when I was ignoring the forums due to complete boredom concerning the lack of folk allowed to participate anyway....
I thought they had gotten rid of the political and religious forums but then again I don't check this site very much anymore.....
I didn't even notice it!
Very happy that it has split, but perhaps the link to the Topical section should be more prominent?
Threads that I normally would have started in the pre-split forums, I have been turning into posts on my website instead. The result? If that website were a hub, it would be my #1 hub in traffic today. So, I'm totally fine with the split. And thank you.
It's so peacefully in here now. Sometimes I click over to the dark side, read a few thread titles, and back away slowly....
I think it was a great decision to 'lose' the religion and politics to the 'other place', but think it was not such a great idea to make it all the 'topical' forums, as certain subjects e.g. pets, gardening etc will therefore also end up there, and they are actually calm, interesting subjects to read about. Lose the controversial stuff by all means, but not everything that falls under one topic.
The trouble is, people would then complain that religion and politics were being discriminated against.
As it stands, the split is logical and no one can really complain - people can visit the HubPages section for help with the business of writing on HubPages, and if they want to chat socially, they go to the topical section.
I know where you are coming from on this Marisa, but I am sure there would be a way round being accused of discriminating against them, maybe by simply naming the other forum area something descriptive like 'Hot Debates' or 'Controversial Stuff'. These are just random ideas off the top of my head, there could be better suggestions made I am sure. If HP worked as a democracy then I am certain the vast majority of votes would have been to remove religion and politics to a separate area, but leave the standard topical stuff where it was originally. I too never go to the other forum area now, so miss out on any pet or gardening threads that I might have enjoyed participating in. It has also become somewhat pointless to make comments in those topic sections now as it seems likely that many people are just like myself and not bothering to go to that forum. No point in asking questions or making comments if few people are going to see them.
I wish the other topics would have stayed separated from the Religion/Politics side of the forums. I just check this one forum side and not interested in the other forum now, so I just miss the threads in the topical section. There used to be some good threads in Topics outside of the two controversial sections.
imho, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY, DEAD BANG RIGHT!
The original request, that we all wanted, is exactly what you stated.
I miss all the other topics, too.
Plus, everyone now misses out on my various odd/interesting/whimsical news threads.
There is a big green button to follow specific threads, why can't there be a button to follow specific Topics? If there is one, I haven't noticed it yet. I get email alerts when someone posts to a thread I follow, I would rather be able to follow Topics I am interested in.
You know I never even noticed. I just thought people had lost interest in religion and politics and had started being nice to each other lol! Wondered why the forum was so quiet.
Well, folks. So far today, HP has been spared two more new threads by paradigmsearch. Both went to one of my websites, instead. One had to do with I-Like-Canada. The other had to do with cats versus lizards. The cat started it; the cat lost.

I believe this has been addressed before but can we please revisit it. I have very little interest in the religion and political forum threads yet they seem to occupy 75%+ of the latest activity. It's an inconvenience to have to browse through Jesus this and Obama that just trying to read on topics...

I was just looking at the titles of the threads for the forums and was immediately struck by the large number of religious topics, many of which have God in the title. I am just wondering why there are so many religious posts here at present? It makes hubpages look as if it is full of religious...

Is there some way to limit the people who use the forums to repeatedly start argumentative forum threads on topics like poitics and religion? Or to have those topics viewed as optional? It lends an ugly and harsh light on HP when we open the forums and see over and over again ugly, argumentative...

I have a suggestion about the forums, and that is to split the front page threads (recently updated) into two sections (which could be tabs, so people could choose which one they wanted to see.)One section (the default one) would be anything related to Hub Pages Official and Hub Pages community;...

Hello all,I was just checking around in my activities to see where I spent too much time (reading in forum threads I am shocked that people write in) on HP or not enough time lately (minding my own business, I guess). Naturally, this means I am, again, into the biggest time-killer space for me on...
