    Misha,

Good link.  Dan is as sharp as they come in the SEO world.  He's on the faculty at Stompernet.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Dan since I got to know him. I think his book is a single best available info on how linking works...

I like to use socialposter.com to help me post to many different social bookmarking sites in a more organized way.

Does it automatically submit your url to all those sites or do you have to visit each site and make an account?

      1. College politico profile image62
College politicoposted 16 years agoin reply to this

You have to visit each site. Any site that will automatically submit to all the social bookmarking sites is bound to get you banned for spamming.

Find relevant blogs and websites. Make a comment and link back to your hub.

Download the book and read the book first. If you are serious about being on the Internet (including Hubpages) you have to understand what it teaches... When you understand it, you'll understand what backlinks to place, when, and where...

I find going to blogs relevant to the area you are trying to cover and joining in the discussion is the best way to get good quality backlinks as what sites that link back to you are just as important as the quantity of links.

I like socialposter.com as well, it does help ease the whole process if you want to submit to a ton of social bookmarking sites. I generally post to 2-3 different social networking sites that I feel are worth the effort usually.

If you want tons of quality backlinks for free, give Qassia.com a try.

You can add your websites and get unlimited quality backlinks. There is no need to pay, or link back to Qassia. Websites are processed instantly and ranked by the amount of credits you have amassed ( you earn credits by comments on others, read others,  post your own articles).

It is still in Beta with over 9000 member joined in a couple weeks, it is not open to public yet,  But two public sites I saw have  already ranked at PR5 and PR4, you cannot join through http://www.qassia.com, it asks you to find a sponsor, you can join through a back door http://beta.qassia.com

BTW, I joined, I don't know how it works :-)

You have to give them content - then you earn "Qassia dollars." Then you use the dollars to "buy" links.

Why are you recommending them if you don't know anything about them?

      1. joshuaz profile image40
joshuazposted 16 years agoin reply to this

I have already mentioned what you said, you earn credits by reading, commenting, and writing.  I didn't say I know nothing about them. What I am saying is I don't know how Google treats their backlinks (within their sites) & increase the page ranking of your websites. If you have more experience with them, why not sharing with us?

LOL - this is what you said. These two statements are a complete contradictiopn of each other. I was just explaining how the system works:

      You give them content
      you earn dollars
you spend the dollars buying links.

It will take a lot of effort to get these "Tons of quality backlinks for free"

Mark, out of curiosity, do you have an account with Qassia?

  12. Mark Knowles profile image59
    Mark Knowlesposted 16 years ago

No. I looked at it and decided it would be too much effort.

Like hubpages, each author will have to generate their own page rank. We are not all equal here on hubpages and some pages are much higher ranked than others.

It is very similar to hubpages, but I think hubpages do a better job. I create my own "High quality backlinks" here and do not have the time to start on yet another site.

I hear ya.  Yeah, it agree that hubpages is much better.  And yes, it does take a ton of commitment to submit to multiple websites...I'm realizing that now.

  13. Mark Knowles profile image59
    Mark Knowlesposted 16 years ago

Well, you obviously missed the people spamming the forum with ads for them.

    LOL

You should try some observation yourself before recommending them so loudly. Any experience with hubpages?

Oh, that's right - 3 days and 3 hubs worth - you must know what you are talking about. An expert no less.

You are Full of it. I never claimed I am the expert on hubpage, I did ask newbie questions, in fact, I did see you have a big mouth and don't know how much you worth. You think you own hubpage,  I hate you only after I've been here for a day.

Good. You are only here to promote your Squidoo lenses, as far as i can tell. But if you drop the sarcasm on me I will respond in kind. And as anyone will tell you, I am the GOD of sarcasm.

I told you what I think of the site - and I don't have time for it.

You heartily recommended this site and then said you had no idea about them.

"If you want tons of quality backlinks for free, give Qassia.com a try"

Excuse me for pointing that out.

Mark is quite correct, he has been anointed a HubPages God by the sort of fair and democratic process that was used to produce all other anointed Gods. Check the archives of the Religion forum for details.

He is, indeed the God of Sarcasm.

I see you are new, Joshua. Take some time to get to know the background of the the people and conversations. You will find that Mark is an incredibly helpful and generous person when a newbie has a technical or writing question.

We love Mark's sarcasm, and we joke about it all the time (did you see Terry's comment that Mark needed to pull out one of his sarcasm smilies? Another Hubber hunted those smilies out for Mark to use.)

There is always a place here for someone who will say "the emperor has no clothes".

There is also a place for people who say "hold on, that's a bit harsh". Even Gods can make mistakes.

Just try not to be harsh when you are pulling up someone else for being harsh, or it kind of loses its effectiveness, ya know?

It's nice to have another someone who is not afraid to speak up for what they think is right. You are the kind of person that makes HubPages the great, dynamic, vibrant community that it is, Joshua, and I think once you find your feet you will feel right at home.

            Even with Mark wink

Actually I'm playing with them to see if I can make something useful out of them. I think they may become a serious competitor to HP if they deliver what they promise now...

And yes, I do promote my hubs there big_smile

Basically, you can do two things - you can post and you can rate other posts. Both activities get you points. Did not figure out yet how to spend the points, but saw some links to members' sites on the first page, and they had quite a lot of points attached. Like 50 times more than I have.

They also have a revenue sharing program that I didn't test yet... And no, they do not have any community - at least I did not find it so far big_smile

Here is my page there, if anybody is interested... http://misha.qassia.com/ (Paul, please remove the link if it violates rules)

Misha, I've got a user id too, but I'm not listing it on the forums because I think it's spammy.  So yeah, if anyone wants to give Misha $100 qassia dollars, just click on his link!
