I want to put together a list of why Christians shouldn't use Twitter.

Taking suggestions from Christians and heathens alike!

You can be as serious as you wish or as silly as you like.

If we get a collection of top 10 or top 20 (or top whatever) thought provoking or provocative reasons I'll post them on my blog (I won't be making a hub about it) and will link to each contributors profile page.

    Who's in?

Cos it makes you seem superior...with followers and all?

"If you ask some one to follow you on Twitter you are asking them to tweet you.  Why is it tweet and not twit?  Oh ... my ... God." lol

    # If you're a Christian you can use Twitter, but you must stop when you get to 665 tweets.

    # 140 characters is not enough to bash someone with scripture verses.

The character limit doesn't enable them to send out a text of John 3:16.

Similar to my second suggestion but even better!

    # Twitter evolved from the idea of micro-blogging via SMS... and Christians don't believe in evolution.

No where in the Bible does it say using Twitter is permitted by true Christians.

I did, but was not sure if it was just something you had decided on or if it had come from some idea that had been in the newspapers or something......  sorry

Strangely enough I had the thought all by myself. Not a newspaper, magazine or blog post in sight.

But I did see something that gave me cause to believe there's a chance for mass exposure when I tweet the blog post.

As many religious folks interpret the bible or even adapt it to suit their individual purposes, I took a closer look. And yup – plain for all to see. Christians cannot tweet. And here’s why:

    I.    You shall have no other Gods but me. Including any/all media variety. No blue birds.
II.    You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it. *See above
III.    You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. Nor bandy it about on Twitter. Amen.
IV.     You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's. Nor his Twittering abilities and Tweet-cred.
    V.    You shall not steal.Tweep, Twit and/or Re-tweet.

Christians - look away, be strong. Do not follow the Blue Bird ...

God had "thou shalt not tweet" as the 11th commandment, but Moses didn't know what the hell it meant so he ditched it before descending Mt Sinai.

Thou shalt not Twitter because ...

". . . it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks." Acts 6:5

    Or this one:

He that toucheth pitch shall be defiled therewith; and he that hath fellowship with a proud man shall be like unto him. [Ecclesiasticus 13:1].

I am sure there's a proud man or two on Twitter ...

    08:30 Eating breakfast
    09:00 Reading Bible.
09:05 Passage is confusing, going to find help.
09:09 Writing some self professed Bible scholar
    09:12 Reading his answer.
    09:17 I don't think he's right.
    09:18 e-mailing him now
    09:20 waiting
09:50 have spent half an hour arguing with this man.

    14:01 Walking down street
    14:07 There's a person.  I assume he's lost and unsaved
14:11 Asking if I can share the good news of Jesus Christ with him
14:12 Guy is wondering why I keep texting.
14:13 Guy says that he wants to know.
14:14 Telling this poor lost soul about the sacrifice that Jesus made.  I tell him the gift of life is a free gift.
14:17 Mentioning that there's a bunch of catches.
14:20 Guy says he doesn't think he can conform
14:22 Screaming at guy, telling him he'll burn in Hell for eternity.
    14:23 Guy is running away
    14:24 Chasing after this guy.
14:26 Yelling Hellfire at this man
14:30 Uh oh, I'm being arrested by the police...

And that is why Christians shouldn't use Twitter.
