I got an anonymous tip from a guest user claiming that someone stole my poem, put it under another title on facebook, and is claiming that they wrote it. I went to the link they gave me, but I'm not given access to it. I'm concerned that it may go up under duplicate content. I'm aware that stuff happens and that there's a possibility that my writing may get stolen so that's all on me. I just would like to know if there is anything I can do to stop this person or is it just one of those things you brush under the carpet?
Hi MaeMG,
I recommend making absolutely sure your content has been stolen before attempting to take any action.
On the bright side, if you are unable to view the person's Facebook, it is unlikely that other people (outside of that person's Facebook friends) will be able to see it either, meaning that person will not be stealing any of your search views.
I'd just like to add the fact that poems are easier to steal than other writing. All the thief has to do is change one word or one sentence and it is no longer yours.
There are at least three country songs that were made popular in the 70's and became successful. Believe it or not -most of the words were mine. They were taken by Top singers and producers.
Maybe that anonymous guest user is the one that did it. Or maybe that person is just playing tricks on you and no one stole your poem.
You can't really stop someone from stealing your work and using it as theirs. If you published your poem as a hub and next to it you see the (c) symbol - possibly copied by someone else then you can file a complaint with DMCA.
Lol great timing! Yes, I actually did find out. The anonymous source also contacted me through my facebook page. I told my source my dilemma that the link was just coming up with a blank page. My source offered me screenshot views of my poem that she posted as her own. I really couldn't report her, because if I can't even get to her page, there is a possibility that they won't be able to as well.
I did expose her by posting the screenshots on my website, my social networks, and whatever else I could (yes, I did put them on that specific poem - http://maemg.hubpages.com/hub/Speak-To-Me-Poem). I also confronted her as well, but I haven't heard anything back from her. I would like to keep the exposed screenshots up if I can (I understand if I can't) as a warning to others as well as people who steal other people's work.
SERIOUSLY?!! That's so not cool. Yes, she just did a total direct cut and paste job on mine. All she changed was the title. She kept the poem the same. I think I was more insulted that she didn't even try hide the fact it was a cut and paste job. My source looked up some lines from the poem and that is how they got in touch with me.

What is the source of your hub traffic?Until now, 90 percent traffic to my hubs was from hubpages, but now the statistics is quite reversed. I see traffic coming from ask, google, facebook, bing, yahoo, redgage, stumbleupon and many other bookmarking sites.

I recently got a spike on one of my hubs. It was doing pretty ok fetching me around 50 views a day. But suddenly an excess of 54 views from ak.facebook.c*m I wonder if its just one more of the facebook type of bots. I checked if my work is copied and it's safe. So, any views as to what this could...

Some people might have a personal experience they would like to share without their identity being revealed. Is this something which has ever been considered before?

I usually use the source name: E.g. Brittany Banks, CC-BY, Via Facebook. But I know there is an easier way to do this, because I am tired of having to upload the photos to facebook to get the source URL. If I take the pictures myself, what do I have to put for the source name?
