How Does Participating in Forums and Following Hubbers Lead to Traffic

   I  dont know whether i asked the right question or not, but i just wonder when we all do keyword research and want to get organic traffic because that is our key traffic source but then how does posting in forums, or just participating here or following other hubbers help us in getting more traffic? Does it have an impact on our traffic growth? If yes please let me know how

      Anything you do on the site, such as making comments, asking questions, participating in forums can improve your hubscore. You can get traffic from hubbers through interaction. The more you do the more you feel part of the HP community.

      I read an excellent Hub about keywords and applied it to a few of my Hubs.  Those don't seem to get as much traffic as Hubs that I've written that other Hubbers find and comment to.  But I'm still learning here.

   I think the impact of traffic from followers and forum posting is very minimal overall.  Organic search traffic is the main source of my views.
   
   Followers might help with a social share every now and then but they aren't going to click ads or purchase products from affiliate links.
   
   Forum posts will produce a few back links but I'd rather have back links from other relevant sites than from HP.

   It's best to work with the idea that internal traffic is pointless. And scores mean nothing.

      Agreed!  Case in point, my hubs with the highest hub scores took me relatively little time to write (compared to some of my other hubs) and do not contain any of the required elements of "stellar" hubs (no maps, no polls, no charts, no videos). Nor are they my highest traffic hubs. I really have no idea why they have a higher score than my other hubs - it makes no sense to me. Best to focus on putting together the highest quality hubs you can and not worry about the scores.

      Networking with Hubbers will cause some ripples (Hubbers sharing your work with others etc), but it's not the most effective way to get traffic.
      
      To make money, you need to attract readers from outside HubPages, so it stands to reason that you'll do far better to go to a forum outside HubPages to do your networking.  HubPages forums are for motivation and sharing knowledge with each other.

   It's not a bad idea to find one or two forums outside of HP that relate to your hub topics.  Occasional posting can bring in a new traffic source.  HP community related forums and comments will attract some views and shares.  I guess it depends on your overall reasons for publishing on HP.  Some are quite content with their HP internal traffic.

   Just making a little ironic observation here.  I became really active on Hubpages the past two or three days.  My income is down over 40%.  My hubber score which at one time was 100, has dropped to 86.  So I went over each hub, edited text, edited summaries, added pictures, pared the eBay and Amazon capsules down to one item each, hopped some hubs, read several Hubpage articles, commented, rated, followed several great writers, and just now checked my hubber score and it went down a point.  (Sigh)

      I was told that doing too much activity too fast looks spammy and may lower your hubberscore. Go for consistency and develop a regular routine of participation. Also try to write hubs with regularity.

         Could be.  But my increase in activity was in direct response to Hubpages requirements, first to drop the number of items on eBay and Amazon capsules to 2, which I did, then to drop them to 1, which I did, and their style tip to have more than one text capsule, which I have started doing, and in addition, the drop in my hubber score and the drop in income.  Oh, well.  I have now stopped all activity except for this response.  I'll let things settle down and check my earnings and hubber score again in a week or so.

      I concur, over the past week or so I've interacted more on HubPages but hadn't written a new hub in a while due to lack of time. I noticed that my overall incoming traffic decreased dramatically and my profile HubScore dropped almost 10 points! I agree with WryLilt that internal traffic is pointless... but according to HP's own FAQs internal participation is supposed to mean something to our scores, and I don't understand how my points dropped so much other than the noticeable decrease in recent traffic.
      
      Where traffic is concerned: My opinion is that HP needs to work on getting more traffic from other search engines than just Google. I've also noticed that sometimes HP's ads that are inserted around our content display code instead of the actual ads, and that their ads are seldom even relevant to the topic of the hubs they are shown with... so maybe HP needs to work on the relevance of their own inserted ads as well, then they may not have to be so strict on us hubbers on our own selection of ad content and placement.

         1. Most people use Google.  So low traffic from other search is usual for most sites. Anyway, they're your keywords. How can HP change that?
         
         2. Adsense adverts are usually based on search history or vary based on location, making them difficult to "set".
         
         Scores are pointless.

   I think it depends what your primary objective here on HUBpages is. Many people are here for the interaction and the money and traffic are a side effect of this. If your objective is money then your interactions will be for traffic which i see from the posts is useless.
   
   I am here to interact and learn from others. If I make money doing it yeh!!! made $0.19 this week.
   
   The most successful internet writers are here, and if you notice they interact a lot. Interaction stimulates ideas and more hubs.

   Contrary to Majidsiko's comment above, my experience is that veteran online writers do not typically rely on social interaction to get hits. We interact online for fun, when we're taking a break from actual work. Using online social interaction for traffic is like pedaling a bike to generate electricity as opposed to using solar panels.
   
   I wrote eight hubs last year as a test to see how on-page content alone (with zero promotion of any kind) could draw visitors on HP. I used minimal keyword research on some; on others, I focused simply on creating interesting, well-researched and truly unique content that would attract the attention of those who share my hobby. Then I left it to cook. Here's the results.
   
   -- All the hubs are featured.*
   -- Average of a little over 20 hits per week per hub.
   -- Earnings are less than a dime a day, but they are earning.
   -- Traffic is ploddingly stable; I have observed no drop-off.
   
   *One of them, which wasn't keyword-optimized and has minimal textual content (it's mostly images), dropped out of "Featured" a few months ago. I edited it in June, and that brought it back to "Featured." Since then I haven't had to touch it. It only gets about 10 hits a month, the least of the batch.
