It's been (I think) 2 years since I last published a hub here. Before that I was really active here. So, I'm thinking of going back to publishing hubs but....I see so many changes and I don't know if I can keep up with all of them plus keep up with the stress in my current work.
Any advice?
HP has really evolved over the past couple of years. So, first, I recommend that you understand that HP actually wants more informational articles that will have an audience over a long period of time.
Oh, there are still a lot of us that write creative works and share then on HP but they are not going to have long-term popularity on Google and thus will be scored lower than the information filled ones.
I recommend that you study what is going on with the more popular HP articles and select a niche that you are knowledgeable in. Then, plan and write regular articles on this subject/s.
Also, you will find that HP readers are notoriously stingy now; both with comments and with any kind of advertisement support, so you will probably have to utilize other sites to drive traffic to your Hub articles.
It is a different world than a couple of years ago, but, on the other hand, there are higher quality articles that are more interesting to read and easier to read because the HP police are doing better at driving the "I'm gonna be an overnight millionaire" newbies away.
Anyway, of all the site I know and have tried a few, I still prefer HP as my homesite. for my writings.
GOOD LUCK! and Welcome back!
DON
Thanks Don. I've just checked and I've been here for 5 years now! I actually like the earnings here, although mine is going down right now, but I'm still earning something considering I haven't written anything at all. But earnings aside, I have so many ideas of what I want to write and I think I have to put them in words somehow.
Will take your advice and take some time to study the more popular HP articles now. I can still see some of my 'old' favorite hubbers on the top of the list still .
Thanks again!
give it a try and you'll adjust. im adjusting coz im new here
Emievil, things have been changing since HubPages started. Eight summers ago I was building my very first Hubs, and I've been updating and adjusting them ever since.
Web writing is a lot like gardening. You have to keep up with the mowing, and weeding.
You'll find the changes of the last couple of years not nearly as daunting as they appear, so please give it a go. I returned to HubPages in January after a three year absence, and got back into the swing of things almost immediately.
I did the same thing. I was discouraged because of the panda slap but recently I noticed that my traffic started going up and that encouraged me to start writing again. My traffic quadrupled and my earnings went up as well. I would say that now is a good time to start up again!
Hi Brie. Unfortunately, can't say the same with my earnings. Used to have pay-outs every month from the HP Ads Program but now I'm making less than half. Did notice my traffic is holding steady though so there might be something in it for me .
I started writing more and improving the Hubs I already had out there too. I think you should try it and see what happens..nothing to lose really.

I'm pulling 2013 kind of randomly, but I really miss how HubPages used to be. It used to be a really friendly place. We used to have kind of an "in" with the administration in that Maddie and Simone would give us advice. There used to be contests to motivate us to write.I understand that...

I used to be totally addicted to HP, couldn't wait to log on everyday to see what was happening, who and what was popping in the forums, what interesting hub made HOTD, and of course, how my stats and earnings were progressing. I looked forward to the rush I got from clicking "publish"...

If I remove an article do I still receive its earnings so long as I do not close my account? Just wondering as I am still in the process of reshuffling articles throughout my accounts. In moving over to Hubpages from Squidoo there are a few of us who wound up with multiple accounts. I am still...

Yes I'm back. I know you probably didn't notice I'd gone. I have a relatively low profile here. No I didn't go because of a falling out on the forums but because of my day job that really slows down my hub activity.I was working in Capetown for a couple of weeks with very limited...

There are some original hubbers/writers, who have made many comments/complaints that their revenue has dropped substantially compared to when they first started, alongside the fact that they are finding it harder to get their articles published on HB. It would be interesting to know if in fact,it is...

Hi,It has been constant now. The traffic is not going up at any part of the day. It is always down. When HP will get rid of google's claws? Please let me know if anyone has an answer for this.
