How Many Links Can I Put in the Link Capsule?

   INTERNAL Hubpages links, from one of my Hubs to another.
   
   I'm writing Hubs that are all interrelated. They're all about my thoughts on old video games, mostly Nintendo so far.
   
   How many links can I put in the link capsule before someone says that I'm using too many? I have like 10 in each capsule and I keep adding each new links for each completed Hub to the list... but I'm thinking eventually someone is going to get mad at me for doing this... maybe.
   
   I don't see any issue or big deal with having all the links to my other video game Hubs on one page. Is anyone going to ever tell me not to do that? I can find any information saying that what I'm doing is wrong. They just frown on too many outside links...
   
   I guess maybe I could just put a text box with straight up links from the title of each at the end of the articles. I could also do that. I want people to be able to access all of my articles from each Hub if possible, since they're all related.

      relache and Barbara are correct. You should only include links in your Hubs that are directly related to the Hub's content. Unfortunately, even if all your Hubs are on video games, it's likely that they are still not related enough to warrant interlinking.
      
      One good way to be sure that your links are directly related to your Hub's content is to see if you think they fit the Hub's title. For example, someone who is searching for Super Mario Brothers on Google is not necessarily interested in Metroid. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to link to your Metroid Hub from your Super Mario Bros Hub, and so on.

         I see what you mean... but Metroid and Super Mario Bros. are the two of the most well known games that most kids played when they were young! That means that someone reading super mario bros is very likely to click on Metroid.
         
         Anyhoo. I'm going to reduce the links on my hubs tomorrow when I get home.
         
         What's a good number? 3 or 4 links?

            I'm a gamer myself, so I understand how you feel, and I know it can seem counterintuitive at first, but Google likes to be sure searchers are getting exactly what they're looking for, nothing less, but also, surprisingly, nothing more (or more accurately, nothing off-topic).
            
            I'd recommend no more than 3 links and the ones you have should be important to a reader's experience with your Hub. For example, a link to statistics on the lasting popularity of the Mario franchise might be crucial to the point you are making in the Hub and taking it out would diminish the reader's experience. If that's not the case with a link, it's usually smart to err on the side of leaving it out.
            
            When including links, it's a good idea to ask yourself:
            
            1.) Is this link representative of the content in my Hub's title?
            2.) Is it crucial to the reader's experience reading my Hub?

               I took your advice as best I could. I just have a link back to my main profile page on all my hubs, which I figure is fine. I put any other very relevant links beneath that. So there aren't too many links now.

   Just linking to all your other Hubs from inside each one will get those Hubs moderated eventually for linking to unrelated content.  Just because you wrote all your Hubs and they are all on video games does not make them all equally relevant to each other.
   
   Your strategy and actions date back to pre-Panda and pre-Penguin, and Google doesn't look at content like that anymore.  It wants specific relevancies now, not general ones.

      Hrm. I'm having trouble believing you. If what you said were true, virtually every major website on the planet would be penalized. Most pro webpages have more than 100 internal links on them out there.
      
      Do you know for a fact that this is something Google specifically looks for on Hubs?
      
      Hubs about video games are, in fact, relevant. People that read my hubs should want to read the others, which makes them relevant. Well, at least in my eyes.
      
      I'd like someone else to have a go at responding to this. I mean, if what you're saying is true, I can live with like a random list of game hubs and a link to my main profile page or something.

         Having a list of so many links isn't going to help you and will just confuse the reader. Instead use a couple that point towards pages which are the most relevant. Then from those pages link to a couple of other pages that are relevant etc. If they are interested in the topic, they will move from page to page this way. I know, I've done it.

   There is limit to same domain link it is two links. Yes the links should be directly related to the content of the hub capsule.

   I don't know, Rywads. When I used links to my profile page or other hubs, eventually I would get a notice saying I had a broken link, and it almost always turned out to be mine. I see other hubbers are cross referencing their own hubs in a separate text box at the end of their hub. Of course, grouping hubs will automatically show the "previous" hub and   "next" hub at the bottom of your work. Good luck!

         Hi Rywads. I came here to suggest you utilize the groups feature, but, I see Marie beat me to it. Setting up your own groups is an excellent way to relate the hubs you want to, such as Metroid and Super Mario Bros. -- that will show at the bottom of each hub all the hubs in that particular grouping.
         
         You can break it  down into as many groups as you like. I depend heavily on making sure my groups are definitive so readers can find all hubs that interest them the most. Good luck and have fun with groups.
