The new cease fire between Israel and Hamas has taken a familiar tone. More land gobbling as a result. I guess to the victor go the spoils again. What a great strategy they have. Let the propaganda begin.

Hamas, the ideal civilization arrests, tries, convicts and imprisons - no rounds up and slaughters.

      Islam is the problem.

Old news.  That actually happened while Hamas was still firing rockets into Israel – more than 3,400 of them – and BEFORE the cease fire. And, that 988 acres was land no one was living on and within the area the British designated for Jewish settlement when it released its Mandate when Israel was founded in 1948. As in all cities in Israel, did you know that Arabs are allowed to live there, too? Only in Israel, the Arabs don't have to live with wicked Hamas and 90% of them don't want to!

But, wait, that's not all.  Israel also approved expansion for 2,000 more housing units  specifically for Arabs living east of Jerusalem:
      http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Munici … lem-374350

Israel also arranged for 2,000 SQUARE MILES of land adjacent to the Gaza Strip to be given to provide housing for Palestinians.  Too bad for the poor Palestinians that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas rejected the idea. That is a big chunk of land!
      http://www.timesofisrael.com/abbas-reje … -in-sinai/

Israel also agreed to provide the Palestinian State of Jordan with $15 billion of natural gas:
      http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-sig … ith-jordan

Guess what else bad ole Israel did? It just officially banned ISIS/ISIL and the Abdullah al-Azzam Brigades, a Sunni jihadist group linked to al-Qaida:

      http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/Isla … ael-374346

That's a lot for a little country to do on one day, isn't it?  Do you know what ISIS/ISIL did today?  It video taped the beheading of another American civilian and passed the video around on the Internet. And, that's not all.  They're planning to behead a Scottish civilian tomorrow:

Good thing those guys are banned in Israel.

I love the way you tie all of this together in a neat little bow.

Yes Israel is within it's rights to settle that area according to the "British" mandate as re-enforced by the UN in 1948. That was and still is the bone of contention with the Palestinians. Israel exercising its "rights" under that accord is what is at question. The fact that they did it now so quickly after a cease fire has been brokered is brazen at best. I also like how you explain a squatters right to the land as nobody is using it. That's a good one. It is like taking someone's car because it hasn't been used for awhile. It is also so nice of you to allow the owner to use it as a consolation prize.

By Israel supplying land in other areas of the country for the Palestinians under Israeli rule is like what? Benevolent? We will take your land and make you move elsewhere from where your family has lived for centuries is fair. Okay we will "give" you natural gas. That should smooth it all over.

Banning ISIS/ISIL means what? That the Palestinians have another accusation in the future to defend themselves against Israeli propaganda when a terrorist event happens. That's a good one too.

...."Do you know what ISIS/ISIL did today?  It video taped the beheading of another American civilian and passed the video around on the Internet."

Just as I said it is so good you can defend the indefensible and accuse all in one posting. Israel taking land that was not theirs in the first place and tying the Palestinians to ISIS/ISIL. Good work!

Sorry, Rhamson, but your facts are wrong.

No, it was BEFORE the cease fire.

The land in question never belonged to Palestinians.  It was given to Israel by vote of the U.N. in 1948, stolen by Jordan in the 1948 war, recaptured by Israel in the 1967 war, and Jordan surrendered all rights to it in a peace treaty.  Nobody lives on that land and nobody is being asked to move! These are facts.  What history books have you been reading?  Try Wikipedia for a quick synopsis.

Clear the cobwebs! I did not say it was not being claimed before the cease fire. I merely stated that it is peculiar in light of it they would continue to press the issue. Nothing new here as this is always the land grab mentality of Israel.

Wikipedia is your source! The history books are full of misconceptions and propaganda. I am glad you are comfortable with somebody giving something away that was not theirs in the first place. Unclaimed land is meant by what to a Bedouin? Maybe you should read up on the culture and the migratory habits where land does not have to be lived on to be claimed. Maybe a good movie like Lawrence of Arabia where a seemingly abandoned water cistern could have cost him his life. But then again you chose to believe what you wish as displayed by your assumptions and answers. Israel exploited a squatting opportunity, nothing more, nothing less.
