I want to share certain things with you. You (most of you) are antagonistic towards established and organized religions of the world.
I must say that, factually, we are (every animal & every human being) 'spirits'. And spirituality is a very practical issue, and not some romantic notion that is only relevant to the parts of 'Venice speech'. Our (in the West) culture is basically focused on developing comforts in the material realm, and we have done a pretty good job at that.
But material comfort alone can not bring happiness to a human being, if we constantly ignore and suppress his/her spiritual needs.
We have a lot of work to do together on that.
As I see it, the human entity is composed of two things: a physical human body, & self consciousness or spirit [most of the time we
are satisfied to simply call it mind]. We may use any word to indicate this thing - but - what is truly important is this: that this thing is a reality.
As I know (and many others know) - this thing comes preloaded with its unique features [example: by default, it both carries and aspires things like love, happiness, friendship and companionship, peace, understanding, prosperity etc.
The pursuit of these things (in want of a better word) can be termed as spirituality.
One of my contentions is that religion and spirituality are two completely separate issues. We would do well not to mix these two. We are spiritual beings. We all aspire love, happiness, friendship and companionship, peace, understanding and prosperity. And you can deny religion. But you can not deny these.
Those achieve these, and to establish these into this world - we first need to regain our, so to speak, 'spiritual eyesight'. That is: Seeing the World as It Really Is.
Right, we need to attempt to see the world as it really is, not how we wish it to be.
"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."
~ Tenzin Gyatso (The 14th 'Dalai Lama')
That's nice, but it has nothing to do with my post.
Love is an emotion that humans have evolved to feel.
Compassion is also part of our evolution.
Pretending our minds are spirits that transcend our bodies is wishful thinking which gives some a false reason for showing love and compassion.
Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom with us. My previous post was about pointing out a certain reality that every living thing share.
Every living things needs love and compassion? Really? Where do you get this stuff. Do I need to point out other creatures that do not need love and/or compassion?
I was just expecting this deep wisdom from you to come out frankly. Thank you very much.
You've got nothing? "'spiritual eyesight'. That is: Seeing the World as It Really Is".
I'm pointing our reality. You are making statements that don't connect with reality.
Examples:
"I must say that, factually, we are (every animal & every human being) 'spirits'."
"My previous post was about pointing out a certain reality that every living thing share."
You've got to be able to back up your statements. I'm waiting for your deep wisdom.
Thank you again for displaying your other virtues, including 'patience'.
"Factually," - that word does not mean what you appear to think it means.
Spirituality has absolutely nothing to do with love, happiness, friendship etc. Spirituality is a wholly subjective, internal experience.
I have to say I am somewhat shocked at your apparent lack of understanding - considering you are supposed to be lecturing on this subject soon. The World is a hard place, no matter how much you Capitalize Your Sentences.
I'll be expecting you during the 'Live Question & Answer' session. Anyway, it's a fact that every human being (and it's true about other lifeforms, too) have a 'world within him/her', and it is also a fact that 'others' can engage and interact with that 'inner world': we are constantly doing it anyway.
Prove it.
My "world within" is actually my imagination. Go ahead - interact with it.
Can you define this "spirit" that you say we all are? What is it made of? Where can it be found? Does it interact in any way with energy or matter? What is it's weight?
Everyone tosses this word around as if the definition is understood: it is not. Please define, and in a manner that it can be checked if the definition is factual.
Anders, you and I are not so far about in the thoughts you expressed here. Are you knowledgeable about one of the most mis-understood man in the 2oth century and up until today? A.Crowly? Our main question is why you keep attributing to R Godwin's supposed sly ways to making compensation on HP. Anders, he is man of the handshake and when he feels the other one has breached that trust the man is I said before is tenacious. Honest honest men are fast disappearing breed for the world and a better friend you will never find. Try to look at the thing from a different perspective and you may get closer to the truth concerning him.
His attitude towards HubPages is quite misguided. Well, not saying that anyone of us is perfect. But this whole thing has matured more quickly than I expected.
It's not that I'll be going there on his hub for the rest of my life.
I've read your stuff, Alastar, and I was delighted to find that you share similar interests. The internet has opened a novel avenue for connection.
Hi shet. Why would you start this thread and open up this can of worms? You know the naysayers will come and refute ESP and invisible blue prints (and even love and the need for love!! This is new! ) … anyway, I agree with your point. More would come on and agree if they wanted to get a word in edgewise.
Spirit is the essence of reality.
Reality is nature
Nature is will
We are will
Will is soul.
Soul is God.
Religion is conceptual.
Concepts are based on ideas,
Ideas are thoughts,
Thoughts come from thinkers,
Thinkers are souls,
Souls originate from God.
(...something like that.)
The invisible is an ingredient of the progressive expansion of reality.

What is the true purpose of religion/spirituality? To bind us with rules, or to open our hearts and our minds?Where does atheism fit into the above? Does tolerance go hand in hand with enlightenment, and if so, how do we promote enlightenment (in whatever form it takes) over dogmatic...

My personal experince, most atheist fear going into any discussions with any depth about imagination and spirtual topics. They fear the out of mind experience. Meaning leading with the heart, that they would call just a muscle rather than a second brain. My daughter and I are fearless. Everyone...

Have you managed to remain very good friends with your very first important 'best friend'? How?Why? What is it about this friendship that is so dear, or important, or particular that it has lasted a lifetime?

Love really is the answer. When we take 100% responsibility for everything that happens to us, we take the perpetrator's viewpoint, too. We can no longer be a victim. I first felt this transcendent feeling in 1977, when I realized that the multiple assaults I had received in traffic were my own...

Honestly, I’ve been thinking a lot about politics lately, and I’m starting to believe that maybe we’re not more divided in 2025, maybe we’re just more awake. It feels like people are finally questioning the news instead of just trusting whatever pops up on their feed or TV. I see way more people...
