I think it was on TBS, I saw a commercial for LoopLane. I went to the site, and it looks like a writing community. Their pitch is "Connecting the content community". They looked pretty new. I was curious because I've never seen a writing site advertize on TV. Anyone heard anything about them?
I saw that commercial a couple times and checked it out. I signed up but haven't done anything there yet.
I've signed up and added it to the list of sites I'm going to place idled Hubs on.
What made the site attractive to you? Any red flags on TOS?
I confess I haven't looked into it in great detail yet, but I couldn't see any red flags in the TOS.
I'm planning to spread my surplus Hubs (and old unpublished articles) over several sites - possibly only three or four per site - because my main reason for article writing is to increase my web presence. So the more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned.
I was curious if anyone had any experience, bad or good with LoopLane. I have articles on two other sites, about a half dozen or so on each. I've signed up for sunforged's and thisisoli's sites but haven't posted anything yet. So I don't know if there is much point for me to sign up for this one. I'm really busy with work obligations Sept thru Dec. Come Jan I need to establish some priorities. Let me know how it goes if you try them out.
Apart from the TV commercial this just seems your standard AdSense sharing article based site. The tools are pretty rudimentary - a simple text editor - and there are no amazon or any affiliates allowed. It seems to offer the potential for TV advertising - not sure where they are going to get the revenue to pay for this though? I'll put some of my idled hubs here and see what happens.
I was curious how they paid for the TV ad for the site, since the site seems so new (and sparse). And interesting that the site is so simple and rudimentary, and they paid for TV ad. Let me know what happens when you try them out. I know I won't have time to do much of anything anywhere before Jan.
I personally think HP is slowly dying, so I'm moving some stuff too. This is nonsense.
And another one bites the dust. I'm also tired of seeing HP push someone else's articles in my FB feed!
I saw the TV commercial and checked out the site... wow, there's really not a heck of a lot of "content" on there yet is there? On one hand I can imagine how cool it would be to help build a site like that from the "ground" up, but on the other, you have to wonder how many visitors are actually going to bother with it since it seems so barren.
You have to remember that on ALL revenue-sharing sites (including HubPages), very few readers visit the site to browse around. Most readers don't even notice what site they're on! The only people who browse are other members of the site.
Your readers find your pages on the site via a Google, Bing or Yahoo search, or by following a link you, or someone else, has mentioned somewhere. So it doesn't really matter whether the site is "sparse" or not.
Well I posted an article there on November 24 - it's still showing as 'pending review' - and you though one day wait on here was bad!!! Me thinks they bit off more than they can chew - and the one editor has about a gazzillion articles to check!!!
There's no way I would post anything on LoopLane right now. The site is insanely slow to start with. I see only one AdSense placement, and that's at the bottom of the page above the footer. I do see one sidebar ad, but it's not AdSense so you won't get a cut -- all of that $$ goes to LoopLane. It doesn't allow any affiliate links/ads at all.
If anyone is going to go ahead with it, you should take note of this from the TOS:
- You give Looplane.com unconditional permission to publish your article on the website, its newsletters, RSS feed and other related material.
- It is the Looplane.com’s sole decision as to whether your article is published and for how long.
- Looplane.com reserves the right to publish ads on the same pages as your articles.
- If your article does not conform to our editorial guidelines, our moderators may edit your article to make it so.
What the TOS does not address is what happens to your articles if they cancel your membership or you close the account, so be careful.
I, personally, would never agree to an editor just changing my article as they wish.
How did the lack of a lot of things in the TOS not throw a red flag up for you?
Although LoopLane says you must have all the rights to any content you submit, they do not say anything about those content rights staying with you once something is published. In fact, their TOS says nothing about you having any rights to anything at all. And although they claim you can earn money and gain traffic in their sign-up pages, there is zero discussion, explanation or statements in their terms about anything having to do with money.
Anyone publishing on that site who thinks their content is going to earn them anything is, IMO, making a grievous error.
Just in case anybody's keeping score, LoopLane is apparently dead and gone. If you go to the site now it shows a GoDaddy screen saying the domain has expired.
Another one bites the dust, eh?

What sites exist that are free to use, that allow writers to create any content (like HP), where you can make money?

Hi,Do more experienced Hubbers have any useful tips for getting your article moved to a niche site? I kept seeing advice that goes something like "make sure you write a high-quality article" but it just seems so vague to me. I have 9 articles now and the only one that was moved to a niche...

Someone just recommend this site. Has anyone tried it or know anything about it?

Hi everyone,Since Google's updates these past couple of months, I've noticed a significant traffic drop (about 20%). Every time I gain some traction and hope, it's a case of going back two steps again. I'm sure I'm not alone! I thought it might be a good idea to start a healthy discussion here to...
