Everybody's always dating someone's friend or humping someone's best friend. And there's always a bunch of jocks who always play sports, and drink beer, and party. And there's always a bunch of blonde cheerleaders, with their tiny pleated skirts (not a bad thing), who're always fighting over the hottest dude. And everybody is always hammered, every damn time. And the ones who even have half a brain, and is smart and all, cant even walk up to a lady. Gawd! Honest to god, if I went to a college like in one of those movies, I would strap a C4 on my stupid chest and blow everyone to hell, to friggin' kiddin! Gawd, if I ever have to watch any of those movies again, I'll puke my guts out. No friggin' kiddin! Hey, i know a lot of people like that stuff, but if there's only one person in these forums, who at least is a bit nauseated, at least, by these imbecile movies, I guarantee, in fact, I pledge I'll hold you in the highest esteem. No friggin' kiddin!
Oh you summed it up to a Tee Fiery. I have never desired to watch these crappy, teeny bopper movies in the slightest. They are sooooo monotoneous oh I 100% agree, Bring on a great action flic I say.
they are horrable i refuse to whatch them it is a wast of my time and a wast of money to even make them i wish they would get lost in a vat of acid
Sorry but I tend to like quite a lot of them. Maybe not the versions you describe. But a lot of high school/college based movies are amazing!
Dead Poets Society, Donnie Darko, Superbad, The Breakfast Club, Clueless, Varsity Blues, Fast Times at Ridgemont High (No one can object to Phoebe Cates- even you cj), With Honors, Old School, Animal House,
They're all great movies.
I have to second colebabie. But I understand that there is a certain type of high school movies which is quite obnoxious. So to some degree I have to second the OP, too .
When I was younger I loved to read the old European 'high school' literature. There used to be quite many, especially from German authors, e.g. Hermann Hesse, Heinrich Mann (the brother of Thomas) or Friedrich Torberg. In those old days the German schools were almost like boot camp and the professors where god-like creatures. Obviously, said authors had a lot of Freudanian self-analysis to do.
Thank you blondy. Thank you isis_dreams. Thank you Lady E. Thank you euro_pen. Hey, you all are salts of the earth. No friggin' kidding.
I like the fact that the teenagers go and see them....
it means less noise and annoying giggles in the other theatres when I go to see the movies that I want to see
Oh yea gimme a 'good bust ya gut mascara running( pop some m&m's in ya gob) blow the nose, tear jerker anytime' deep an heavy!! sigh sigh ,then kfc an sweet dreams

You know what, Kiwi. Under different circumstances - I'm sure he would ask you out. No kidding, you're hot.
See EK did I not tell you that you are hot too??? Thanks Fiery she cannot dispute two opinions here......If she does I shall raise my sword!!!
Hahaha EK!!!! You trying to make me spit my coffee out first thing in the morning??
Goodmorning you luscious vision of morning loveliness...

Hahaha you nearly made me pee my pants that time EK, gee one day when you have time can you teach me that lingo??? :)Hahahaha
Can I say good morning to you, too? I can't possibly compete with Kiwi's poetic greeting, I am just glad you are
They are ghastly! I change the channel immediately when I see one, and that includes teen version classic horror remakes.
While not the first movies I rush out and see, I can list quite a few of this "genre" that I did/do enjoy.
In addition to Animal House and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, movies set in high schools/colleges that I like include:
1. Election -- Reese Witherspoon is withering!
2. Drum Line
3. Revenge of the Nerds -- Yes, really!
4. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
5. American Pie -- Yes, I really like this movie!
6. Sixteen Candles
7. Breakfast Club
8. Footloose -- Just saw this one today. Vintage!
9. Sydney White
10. Halloweentown
The list could go on and on. Usually the evil jocks and cheerleaders get their comeuppance, so what's not to love about that?

Should high schoolers be able to choose core classes based on a choice of future career?Sophomores and upper classmen only though... they already have prep-classes that you can choose, but is that enough. Kids with 4.0's through high school bust their butts on learning useless information (like why...

that is totally false. It is the A students who are the MOST SUCCESSFUL in life. They have more opportunities to further their education and to succeed than either B or C students. A students are more likely to attend graduate, law, and/or medical school than either B or C...

If you got the chance would you go back and do high school all over again?

The common wisdom is that you should go to college, get a good education, and find a job afterwards and you will be financially successful. Isn't that an outdated concept? The average college grad is unemployed for two years after graduation, and when I went to teller training a month after I...

Should my daughter take Spanish or Latin? When my daughter attends high school she must take foreign language. The choices are Spanish and Latin. We live in Texas, so Spanish would come in handy here. Latin, I hear, will help on college entrance exams. My husband is pushing Spanish, while a friend...
