"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
Jesus was filled with grace and truth. We want to walk in grace and truth as well. When we are able to present the truth in love with grace, we will begin to mirror His image in our lives.
"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14
In His Overwhelming Love,
The only way I know to explain why "GOD" people shout is this:
Once a person has a personal relationship with God, He gives such an awesome peace of mind and heart and you know that you know, no matter what happens in this life, GOD is with us.
I don't really like to use the term about a feeling that you get, but it is such a feeling that gets down deep inside of your heart and spirit that no person can bring. It's more than you can ever imagine or think.
For example: you fall in love with someone and they return that love to you. The feeling that you get when you love and are loved is great.
Triple that feeling that you get with knowing God....
That makes you want to shout!!!
Ha why do non "god" people always shout too? and don't say it is to be heard over us "god" people...that would be silly
So, then, the question still remains.
What really is "grace" ?
I mean, people will say "unmerited favor" and all those standard definitions, but I think there's something more to it.
Just can't put my finger on what.
Phillip Yancey wrote a book called, What's so Amazing about Grace. Read it, and you will be surprised. Most people who tout "grace", don't even know what it really is. I will read anything that catches my interest without judgement, and this was a surprisingly good read. I believe that everything that is beautiful is beautiful because of grace.
I think God's grace is many things. But I do understand the feeling you're describing and wanting to shout. When I get this feeling, to me it's the presence of the Holy Spirit, I just feel like I'm going to explode ( and that's still not quite the word I'm looking for), but it's almost like an overlode of feelings and emotion and wanting to praise the Lord that you just can't keep it down. And the peace and joy of the Lord, there is nothing that compares.
Well, I think that most definitions of grace out there, well meaning as they may be, are mostly "me-centered". Take "unmerited favor" for example.
Most of the time it is meant to draw attention to one being such a sinner and this and that, yadayadayada.
My brother would point to the fact that he was once a "mainliner" and would pop in palmsful of uppers, follow it up within minutes with palmsful of downers, down them with beer each time, while puffing on high grade marijuana.
Then he would say but God's grace......
I used to be no better.
As a teen, my folks thought I was the most well-behaved, studious, neat, kid on the block.
They had absolutely no idea who I was ten miles from home.
Jekyll and Hyde.
Then when I was converted, I would testify that had it not been for grace......
But years of reading the Bible led me to the view that is commonly called Calvinism, and to the position derisively called Hyper-Calvinism even by Calvinists themselves and my view of grace changed.
Grace I found, was God looking at individuals and loving them even if they were absolutely unloveable by His standards, and determining to redeem them from the bondage of their fallen nature and from His own wrath by putting off His own garments and putting on the garments of a "slave" and taking punishment in their behalf and doing what they, as fallen creatures, are unable to do, remain pure and sinless and thus be an acceptable sacrifice.
He didn't have to, but He did, for those He called His own, from eternity past.
That is Grace.
Not about me, but about Him.
I agree with you. It is all about HIM and not us as individuals.
I understand some people do things that may be worse than others but, God doesn't see it that way.
I think of it like the time the adulterous woman was brought before Jesus and the people wanted to stone this woman to death. Jesus said to them, you that are without sin, let him cast the first stone.
Little by little each one of them put their stones down and walked away. Jesus said to the woman, where are your accusers? she replied they are gone. He told her, go and sin no more. He showed her favor and forgave her.
Jesus showed her grace whether anyone else thought she deserved it or not. It wasn't about her. It was about Him !!
Grace is goodwill, favor. A delay granted for payment of an obligation. The love and favor of God toward man.
Praise God for the grace we humans receive from Him everyday.
What love and compassion.
it seems tonight we are are evolutionizing from eating monkeys to asking about our Creator...glad we are making forum subjects that aren't stupid...

Grace is a fascinating subject. I believe that the Bible is the only book that promotes it as a characteristic of God. No other sets of spiritual beliefs talk about it. As I study the Bible's idea of grace, it is amazing, as the song goes. First of all, God shows universal...
