Inspired by lj_bot on the Live Journal website, I reworded this person's question of "Name That Baby". As a baby you were given a first name most likely by your parents. What name would you have chosen to call yourself? My name Jane was my mother's middle name selected by my father. Catholics select a middle name during the ceremony called Confirmation.

If I had the option to name myself, I think I'd go with Captain Danger Kirwan. Cap for short. smile

Captain Danger, sounds like a super hero or science fiction name. When I was a toddler, my mother used to call me Guinevere. My early childhood response to her was, "I'm no Goon-A-Bear"!

My name is Lisa and although common growing up, especially in school; I am happy with it. My father named me. Had my mother named me she would of called me Marcillina, Marcie for short. I just don't think Marcie fits me. So in answer to your question I am content being Lisa.

I'm also Lisa, but my name was a last minute compromise. I would have been Elizabeth, which was my grandmother's name, but when the doctor delivered the news that I would have to be an only child, my parents decided not to name me for one grandmother, and not the other. Regardless, my father always called me Liz.

Elizabeth Anne, rather than Lisa Anne.

Elizabeth Anne and Lisa Anne are beautiful names that work well with one another. I am not sure but it would be interesting to research into the origins of the names Elizabeth and Lisa. Elizabeth is of Hebrew origin as is my first name Jane. Isn't Lisa derived from Eliza?

I was named after my mother and her name was Helena Janina. Since my father did not care for the name of Helen, he thought that I should be called Jane.
