I received a notification that my Google Adsense tax information had been changed today. Did anyone else get this notification and didn't change anything? Should I worry that someone has gotten into my account?

I got it and ignored it.  My info is up to date and correct so whether it is real and pointless or fake and spammy, I don't need to do anything.

Are you sure you didn't get a piece of phishing spam?  That's what it sounds like.

I got the same e-mail last night, but when I checked my AdSense, nothing has been changed since 2011, when I first opened the account!

I found this thread on a Google publishers' forum, seems that a whole lot of people got the same email too:

      https://productforums.google.com/forum/ … 1RmVK224cJ

Most of the folks there seem to think the mail was sent out erroneously and it's just a Google glitch, nothing nefarious...but just in case, I wouldn't click on any of the links in that email to go to your AdSense account... Log in from a separate browser.

Someone in the forum thread I linked above actually got an answer from Google AdSense about the e-mail:

      "Dear publisher,

Thank you for reaching out to the Support team.

As part of our usual tax process with the Internal Revenue Service, we often verify your tax information. Due to an error on our part, we accidentally sent you an email during this process.

Please disregard this message, and rest assured that it wasn’t the result of unauthorized access or changes to your account. No action is required on your end.

Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused you.

      Kind Regards,"

Glad to see an official response from Google. I got it,too, and found a conversation about it on an Adsense forum with enough responses that I was confident it was okay, but always good to see an official confirmation. Thanks!

I got that email, too. At first I was worried that someone had hacked into my account, but them saw a message online that Google sent it by mistake to a number of account holders. Whew!

I got the email, too. It freaked me out. Then I finally found and read that forum thread and realized the email was not directly addressed to me...probably phishing. Lost sleep over it, not about my pennies but my personal tax information security. sad

I received that message, yesterday, and figured it was an error. Did not click on anything - simply deleted it. Evidently, a lot of people got it.

Thanks everyone for answering. I guess I don't need to worry. My main fear was that someone got my social security number and then applied for charge cards with it.
