Increase Internal Traffic- The Power of Hubbers Respect

   I believe in something I call Hubbers Respect. Mora useful than Hubber Score.
   
   What is Hubbers Respect?
   
   You see I think we are way more likely to click on an Hubbers name and check is profile and consequently his hubs on a regular basis if we respect the person and the knowledge they possess. And that brings in views from hubpages itself. For example I've come to find myself checking someone's profile and hubs more than once when I see his name in the forums,  QA and hubs comments.
   
   Of course this is what they mean by being active in the community. It indeed is a a traffic source. In some cases perhaps a big one.
   
   But do you believe as I do, that the respect you acquire from a fellow hubber because of his/hers hubs and posts in the community?
   
   I sure do. As I am sure quite a few Hubbers have gained a few of my views and ad impressions because I respected their opinion and went to look for more.
   
   (nothing to do with the Follow button. I mean randomly finding the persons name on the community forum and decide to go check what he has been producing)

      It is a traffic source but NEVER  a big one. Let's face it, you need 1,000 visits to make $2.  The HubPages community is far too small to make a significant difference to your traffic, even if they share your Hubs occasionally.    It is great to "share the love" because you're enjoying the community, but there's no point in doing it for traffic purposes - the same effort put into networking OUTSIDE  HubPages would yield much greater results.

         As for traffic and earnings Marisa is correct, but for fellowship and getting to know some interesting folks it is definitely worth it to interact with other hubbers.  I do make a point of socially sharing very impressive hubs, but not everyone's hubs.  If we all share everything it can lead to a spam perception problem, but I do make a point to share some hubs and even questions if they are full of great answers.

         Interesting point about traffic, Marisa. I think we all start off wanting to make money from writing, but after you discover the Hubpages community it's fascinating to find out more about other writers.

         Marisa hubpages is main source of traffic at the moment. But I'm new here so no organic search traffic yet.

      I read the posts that responded to yours, and while what most say makes sense, I do think that having hubbers read your work because they respect it can be important to views IF they share your work on social networking sites.
      
      Sometimes, when they do this, others see your work and pass it on.  This can bring in many views.  It does not happen often, but it does happen.
      
      If you keep writing hubs, at some point Google will start ranking them.  If they're good, Google will give them a high ranking and then more people will see them.
      
      This takes time and a great deal of effort, so be patient and just hang in there.

         That's true, TT2, but the point I was trying to make to Stephane is that when you're trying to get attention for your online articles, there is only so much time in the day.   
         
         If people want to spend time socialising within HubPages for its own sake then that's fine, but spending the same amount of time networking outside HubPages is far, far more likely to produce results.

   Sadly for me internal traffic is very minimal to what I write on. You'll likely find if you write in a particular area tgere will be a relatively small number of hubbers who will take an interest.
   
   If you want success its the traffic from outside that will make it for you from my experience

      At the moment is my main source of traffic, but I'm too new on here to have traffic from Google so.. Yeah sad me aha

   As someone who has been active in the HubPages community for nine years now, I can say that no matter how active you are here, fellow users are insignificant when compared to the quantity and influence of outside traffic. 
   
   Respect is immaterial to many users as that has zero effect on traffic and/or earnings, but those who do value it will often point out that it is best achieved over time.

      Well the internal traffic may be very low, but it still is traffic. For example, I went on your profile and looked at some hubs because I read on the forums you were a respected hubber in fact one of the old school. While the views you got from me thanks to your reputation is nothing compared to what you get outside. It still is views, and I'm sure as me there Wil be other new schoolers checking your work and cause of those reasons.

   I have 441 "followers" on this site. It would be nice to if all 441 of them were on the edge of their seats anxiously waiting for me to post each and every new Hub but it hasn't worked out that way.
   
   The only time I've gotten a bump in internal traffic is when I've been voted Hub of the Day (twice). The rest of the time, I am basically standing on the edge of the HubPages Highway with my thumb out, yelling "YO! CHECK ME OUT!" at random passersby.

      Oh yes like I mentioned before I'm not talking about followers, I do not believe in the power of the followers, it is just a number, only a few will actually read what we post. I'm talking about community and having your name around in important topics.

         Oh yeah, I get what you're sayin'....but I've been a regular in the forums and the Q&A's ever since I became a member here and it hasn't resulted in any noticeable jump in views to my Hubs that I can tell.
         
         ...I'm not tryin' to pee in your Cheerios, I'm just sayin'.

            On-topic: maybe not a jump, but perhaps I little extra coushin. At least I feel I've gotten some views and feedback due to being active on here, I might be wrong and those views came from random people browsing hubs on the site.

               Yes, and that's a good reason for being active, at least at first - it gives you a bit of motivation in the early days when there's not much external traffic coming in.  However, the fact is that you won't start making much income until at least 90% of your traffic is coming from outside HubPages, which puts the value of internal traffic in perspective.

                  Well I'm a bit surprised with the internal traffic I've been getting. Although it's obviously not much, it's way more than I expected. And I see it has a positive sign, if Hubbers read and enjoy my hubs perhaps Google will find it useful and bring in some traffic too. It is yet too soon though, only been here for 2 weeks.
                  
                  Marisa let me ask you something, some of my hubs are already indexed by Google, how long did it took you to see some Google traffic on Traffic sources page in HP?

                     Hubs can be indexed very fast, but that doesn't mean much - what matters is where they rank in the SERPS (search engine results).   It can take time for your Hubs to build up a reputation - it's not unusual for a Hub to take several months to start getting decent traffic.

   I understand the point you're trying to make and yes you want to be respected among the hub community. The whole traffic story is a completely separate issue but it's true that for newbies on here internal traffic matters.
   
   I've been here just over 7 months and only now am I starting to witness outside traffic come in slowly. It'll be a long process before any traction is gained but I welcome the challenge. Good luck with everything too and I wish you well.

      Hello Chris, internal traffic does matter, mainly because it's quality traffic. Views I know that at least 50% of them clicked on the content because they were interested. People who are aware of hubs as a source of new knowledge. Not the views coming from my Facebook shares who click in and out in seconds (at least this is how I imagine those views)
