Supposed friends and/or family talking about you behind your back.

Do you find it as aggravating as I do?

If people find it necessary to talk behind my back, then let them talk. It will show others about themselves, as they do.

I make no excuse for my actions and regret nothing I do. I'm proud to be the person I am and comfortable enough in my own skin to have love for myself.

I live honestly and strive with a purpose to help others. If someone has something negative to say about me, then apparently they have their own personal issues to work through and/or don't know me.

So, let them run their mouth...they only add value, because you impacted upon them so much that they were driven to talk about you with someone else. The question remains- what impact?

To me, it is all about impact on others from actions. wink

        Cagsil,
Great points. People do not take responsibility for THEIR issues. So true.
If people talk behind my back -my job is to make sure they read about me. I will not break bread with Judas's.  Firmly believe that people's talk will manifest into negative action, passive aggressive behavior,  if people do not like you or what you represent.

Doesn't really bother me when freinds do it, they obviously aren't your freinds, but man it pisses me off when family does.
When I decided to leave my husband I didn't talk to anyone for about a month, because I knew they would all have their own opinion and I needed to work things out on my own.
My family decided that they would hold a meeting without my knowledge to discuss what they were going to do about me, I didn't find out until a year later.
I try not to let it get to me but it does.

It's not aggravating, but it does make me wonder quite a bit. Sure, they look like they're a good bunch of people, but I've always thought about what they really see me as. I treat them with respect, and I expect pretty much the same in return. Of course, my best friends speak highly of me, so I'd like to see what everyone else thinks.

At least they are talking about you!!  They must care about you.

It depends on the source.  If it's my family, then I won't say anything, as it's pointless to debate with them anyway.  However, as for other people, then I would say screw them.  Don't associate yourself with the people that you know talk about you behind your back, as they're not your true friends.  Or at the very least, don't trust them completely, as a person that smiles to your face while saying insidious things against you secretly can turn out to be your worst enemy.

      Hi Tritrain,
You are unfortunately in the kind of world, where you always will be judged no matter how good or bad you are. People will always talk behind your back because people always have different opinions.  I suggest you just live your life and ignore all that. It certainly is the best thing to do, as you will never ever stop people from talking behind your back. It will be like asking them to stop breathing (which is part of life) :-).

It doesn't worry me. I don't even think about it.
Besides, I feel a little sorry for people who don't have better things to do.

Yes and no. Yes, for obvious reasons...in fact, just a half hour or so ago, I got a text that a friend was supposed to send to somone else, saying I was not trustworthy and so on. It sucks, but everyone talks behind everyone else's backs. Its natural, it happens. Otherwise, we wouldn't have much to talk about- people are a huge part of out personal lives, so its kind of hard NOT to talk about them, good or bad.

It bothers me just a little because I begin to think maybe I might have some flaws in me. But after this, I just change my attitude a bit for the better and move on. You should never let other  peoples' words pull you down, just improve your self where you think necessary, people will always talk no matter what or who you are smile

It use to bother me,but I handled that long ago, even though it's still going on today and it probably will tommorrow.

People are always going to have something to say about you good or bad.
What they don't know they'll make up or embellish half trues.

Let them live in their fantasy,it's their dilema not yours.Maybe they'll figure it out or atleast understand you can care less.

Once it's discovered you don't care and it means nothing they try to find another way to annoy you.

Keep a journal of all the incidents, crazy, outrageous stories and lies for future reference.

Gives you something to read, build a fire with, line a dog cage with and makes for interesting reading and good laughs.

Yeah laughs because you've overcome the madness and still have your joy and peace of mind.

I hate it!  Family doing it is the worst.  The trouble is, it seems to be part of the human condition.  Everyone seems to have an opinion about everyone, and wants to tell everyone about it.

The dilemma - confront the culprit, (never works for me, always ends up as a row, even when I'm being rational and non confrontational) or ignore it, with the attitude that if they're talking about me, they're leaving someone else alone, (in which case it is often seen as a sign of weakness and that I am a push over to be walked all over.)  Then there is the bare faced denial.  You know they said it, they know they said it but they're never going to admit it.  Aaagh!

There has to be a middle ground, I just don't seem to be able to find it.  I just try to have as content a life as possible.  Nothing drives people to distraction more than having a good life:)
